Mores the pity!! Once upon a time being a Nurse was a vocation, now, sadly for many it’s just a job.

I know. But much as you and I would fervently wish for it, it will never happen…..public employees being caught with their trousers down on the job, if you get my meaning!!

It’s only my opinion, but I think it would be a good idea for a specialist team, to make SPOT visits to all Hospitals without warning, and go through, perhaps just one Ward, and give it a good going over, even to the extent of asking patients to fill in a questionair as to the quality of service they have received on that particular Ward. When our C.C. was going to visit our nick, we had at least 2 days notice. Needless to say everything was all up to date.

A very definite yes in answer to your question. And, of course, there has been much discussion of it in connection with NHS reorganisation. I was appalled at the general sloppiness and apparent duplication of tasks and responsibilities during my short stay a few weeks ago. Gerry Robinson has made some excellent programmes about the NHS and assessed its good and bad poits and offered his recipe for improvements. But no doubt his words fell on deaf ears.

Chas, Good old Hattie Jacques, sadly missed, not only by me, but many more.

I vividly remember the days many more years ago than I care to remember, good old matron, even a Doctor, doing his rounds HAD to ask Matrons permission to go onto the Ward, and God help the nurses on the Ward, if everything wasn’t Ship shape and Bristol fashioned, none of this what one sees today, all standing at the nurses station gassing away.
Do you think, (Open question to all) that we should bring Matrons back, and make them responsible, as in the old days?.

I thought that you said the op was a success? You’re not on those adult nappy thingies, are you?

Edgar ole buddy, No, no nappies, my driving seat is a toilet seat, and everything goes straight onto the road, however, I can’t pass anything whilst stationary, ie such as traffic lights, Y’know, like railway carriges. 😀 The 7th gear, is actualy the flushing gear!!
