…that’s what it says in this link:-
It’s nothing to do with Spielberg and Hanks, apparently.
Apologies if this has been covered already but a quick search of the forum didn’t find anything.
The same clip on Youtube has had nearly 1/4 million hits so I’m surprised that it seems to have escaped the forum’s attention so far?

Beermat you are so right, the Warsaw flights would make an excellent film. Sadly it would need to be produced by someone with some talent though and is unlikely to be made as I fear the ending wouldn’t be happy enough for current times…

South Africans and Liberators – Warsaw, Balkans, etc?
Actually the Warsaw flights could make a good film..

‘They ‘aint ‘Alifaxes…they’re Liberyfaxes….”
At least they are consistant. The 109s are screwed too !

Well I lasted nearly two minutes.
Let’s hope it just remains a work in progress.

Angel of the Skies
Angel of the Skies
Not impressed by The Mighty Eighth, eh? How about this one then?
“A crew of men working for the Royal Air Force during WW2 sacrifices their lives, when their plane is surrounded by bombers and plummeting, they have no choice but to parachute into Nazi occupied land. Hunted by a German SS officer, the young South African leading pilot, Kirk, must lead his crew to freedom or else risk becoming yet another casualty of war.”
The CGI might be a bit better overall but I reckon there’s something not quite right about them Halifaxes…

If you watch it form the garden with the sound turned down, a bag over your head and your facing the other way its not to bad !

The trailer is a pre release teaser for a project that is not yet sold to a studio.
The Hanks and Spielberg mini series is titled ‘masters of the air’ after the book with the same name and is due for release sometime in 2015.

I’m sure it could be worse. If they tried really, really hard…

But for the average DVD buyer who spends his fiver in Tesco on the other rubbish he’ll be happy to part company with his fiver for this rubbish….
By: Arabella-Cox - 4th December 2013 at 08:02
My money is on it being one of those straight-to-DVD films you get for a fiver in Tesco, such as Fortress or Battle for the Skies.
You are probably right, but I think they may need to very substantially knock the price down from a fiver for something that is so terminally awful.

The crew were obviously not carrying their lucky charms.

“My goal with THE MIGHTY EIGHTH is to create a film that not only thrills and entertains the masses, but opens eyes and honors an important part of World War II that has never been portrayed the way it actually was.”
And won’t be this time either…. My goodness that’s so awful it’s an insult – to everyone.
There’s just no excuse, a classic case of just because someone can it really doesn’t mean they should be let loose to.

Never mind about flying head on in to the entire Luftwaffe – it starts by stating 65 B.17’s, whereas looking in the background 650 B.17’s would be an understatement – and it is “Inspired by true events” after all!!

Embarrassingly awful. They should sack the ‘special effects company’ and start again, preferably forcing the SFX geeks to watch the original Memphis Belle, Twelve O’Clock High and a few others before committing further keyboard heresy. But no, we seem to be stuck with them; they’re the sh*t that won’t flush …

Crazy idea, I know, but how about filming some real aeroplanes? They look great on film, so real looking.
CGI has had its chance, but after Pearl Harbor (sic) Flyboys, Red tails etc it is obvious that there is not the talent or understanding to make a decent job of it, and prevent it turning into an arcade game.
This clip is a moronic abomination, just embarrassing.
By: Jim_Harley - 3rd December 2013 at 21:01
they just can’t get it right…
By: Arabella-Cox - 3rd December 2013 at 20:29
The concern of the B-17 captain might be a bit understated, given that he appears to be flying head-on into the entire Luftwaffe fighter arm.
By: Andy in Beds - 3rd December 2013 at 20:22
and not a Spitfire in sight…
Well that’s a positive for it. ;);)
