Aaaah St. Maarten, next years holiday desternation for me having got bored with Barbados(wost airport terminal award). The beach is narrow and is at the far end on the photo. The hotel at that end has many rooms overlooking the threshold. 😀 . There is nothing like laying on a caribbean beach and being able to smell jet A1.

It always blows my mind that they can turn a 747, or similar, around in those cramped uturn areas. why not just build a taxiway if you are getting that much traffic? Would it not be easier?

In answer to your question, hmmm, the shots of Seoul’s new airport look nice, and I’ve always thought that CDG was a good blend of the old and new. Honolulu has a beautiful setting.

Maybe a silly question, but where is the beach? On all the SXM pictures you see this nice beach where the planes fly over for final approach, but I can’t see it! Or is that teeny-weeny strip of yellow on the bottom that famous beach? That looks like it is smaller than a cats litter box (well, almost then)!

AF no longer operate the 747 into SXM, flights are done using A340’s now.

Great pics btw. 🙂

KLM operate the 743 into SXM, too.

with regards to the pic, I’d assume it was taken from miles away with a big zoom lens.

As far as I know both AF and Corsair operate B747-300 to St Martin.

I’ll still never know how they manage to get 747’s down on that runway without the use of an arrestor hook ?

Yes two very nice shot. But if anyone would be kind anough to explain to me how the first shot was taking. The plane is heading straight for the plane were the photographer is siting in, well atleast close enough.

regards,

jw
