Which aircraft has always left you feeling totally…well…uninspired? Put ’em here, folks.
Just so everyone’s happy, these posts are for ‘fun’ and do not of course reflect the skilled and brave crews who have flown in them. And, of course, one man’s cast-offs are another’s collectible (if you know what I mean 🙂 )
On with the show.
The S3A Viking. Just…..boreing! There’s not a curve that excites me – at all!

As someone who studied aeronautical engineering at university you can appreciate the beauty in the design of almost any aircraft. Generally nothing is done by accident and its the reasoning behind the simplicity/complexity/colour etc… that makes an aircraft interesting.
I must confess however – the Falke motor glider is pretty dull.

All Cessnas except the T-37, and…
Aero Vodochody L-29….. ‘can’t carry much or go very far…. Silly ‘T’ tail. Ironically it’s the world’s most popular jet trainer, but that’s just ‘cos it was selected as the standard jet trainer by almost all Warsaw Pact forces.
The Hunter is FAB ! ! ! ! ! !

Myasishchev VM-T
…quite a ‘good’ example…

Meant to add cessnas, pipers, modern jet airliners (why we can’t add some VC10s back to the sky eludes me) etc. No I am not anti American, as I see the Lockheed Constellation, and the DC series of piston airliners as some of the nicest ever made, and wish that some were still in service on mainline routes today.

Anything that’s plain GREY (or GRAY, if you’re on that side of the pond).
All those F-16s and Tornados, all in monotone GREY. How dull is that?
I even include the RAF transport fleet in that, even the VC10’s. A beautifull aeroplane ruined by being GREY.
Airbus and Boeing airliners may be mind numbingly dull, but at least they’re not GREY!

P-51D.
I’ll slope off and hide in the bunker with Frank.

B-2 Stealth Bomber, why people drool over it at Airshows is beyond me, even
when it does a low pass at 500ft it’s boring:rolleyes:
phil.

I’m gonna get in trouble for this I’m sure, but:
Spitfires.
You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Same paintjob, same looks, same everything. A Spitfire at an aitshow is the best time to go get lunch (note that most WW2 stuff goes into that category 😉 ).
I’ll get my flak jacket now, and duck for cover…

The ATR series airliners. They look like they were designed (and built) in a scrapyard.
What the hell does ATR stand for anyway?
Bri :dev2:
It stands for: Avions de Transport Regional
Inspiring, huh?

It’s just like cars these days. All converge on what’s the most efficient shape.
I drive a Fiat Multipla… now there’s a funny ‘un… 🙂
as for aeroplanes, yup, the airbus/boeing shapes are just so unexhilarating to look at….possibly because I live under the flightpath for Liverpool JL, not that I’m biased or anything…;)

Are you crazy?
:p
I think he’s saying the Hunter isn’t unattractive, just boring.
And I can somewhat understand that.
It looks the way a 1950s fighter should look.
Like the F-86…very purposeful. No gimmicks.
Nothing wrong with that.
Besides, after 50 years, we’ve come accustomed to it.

Modern airliners for me. I genuinely can’t tell a Boeing from an Airbus.

For the best clues, look at the shape of the cockpit side windows……
I work on the things and struggle to differentiate at times….
My boring aircraft? Shorts 330. Box-like, slow, and completely un-inspiring. Awful:mad:

Modern airliners for me (cant tell the difference between any of them) and dare I say it, the old Moraine-Saulnier Rallye. I used to quite like flying them, but not very pleasing to the eye.
But then they say ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’.

The Grumman Hellcat for me, so oddly proportioned.

F22 and the F35. All function and no form.
