Following recent “events” in Iraq, what future (if any) do you see for Iraqi Airways? I know its speculation at present but do you think they will become an all Boeing operator, Airbus or a mix of both. Will they return to the previous extensive route system? Or will we be treated to an Iraqi LoCo operation. Just think! a fleet of A320s in the livery of OpenSesame.com! Well, just a thought. Over to you.

Baghdad is a major destination in the Middle East, like Kuwait or Dubai. B.Med is reserved for second tier routes like Tehran.

I think it would be a success. There must be quite a demand for people wanting to get home or wanting to see family plus workers etc in the country. Surprising it is not Brit. Med. though.

I know this is slightly off topic but on the British Airways Website it says British Airways wants to start a 3 times weekly Boeing 767 service from London Heathrow to Baghdad!!!!
Anyone reckon this would be a success? Maybe if it were like a British Mediterranean A320 service?

Not yet…still waiting for fleet changing programme to be finalised. Right now the B742 kind of forms the backbone..as AI operates 8 of them.

I imagine George Bush will add Boeing to his list of favoured US contractors for the rebuilding of Iraq ?

I expect they will do as Ariana Afghan did, and receive some old planes as gifts from other airlines.
They do have some A310s dating from an order made before the last Gulf War, which were never delivered. I haven’t the foggiest what will become of them.
Maybe they will be taken up and supplemented with some freebie PIA A310s?
