Would anyone be interested in a meet at either Cosford or Coventry? If so I’ll ring around and see if I can get anything arranged. I think Ashley deserves a break.

Malt Whisky – anyone tried ‘Caol Isla’ – deadly….
Sorry to be a pedant, Bruce, but this should be Caol Ila. It’s the best Islay single malt by far. And co-incidentally I just happen to have an almost empty bottle of the stuff sitting in front of me right now! How did that get there? 😀

You know, you’re right. I never really thought about it before but the British Isles have such a variety of beers that everyone should be able to find a few that they like

Mike. my comments about the judges were very tongue in cheek. But the beauty of real ale (English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, Cornish or wherever it comes from) is there is something for everyone. Wether you like warm frothless bitter, or stouts or pale ales or … even lager! (Harviestouns Scheihallion is a lager, they even brewed a Black Lager a couple of years back.
I need a pint. Three judges here I come

Sounds like my kind of gin and tonic 😀
Done the Scottish way , 2 bottles in a clean bucket , add 2 litres of chilled tonic , chop up 2 limes and 2 lemons – add to bucket and fill bucket with ice , serve with a soup ladle and a pint glass . (remember to save some for Sunday breakfast ):D

Also presented a TV show on Channel 4 – bloody hilarious. Can’t remember what it was called, but it involved dudes driving around a sort of assault course in these mad homebuilt off-road cars.
Full Metal Challenge!:)

venture to the Uk via France,
stop off at Calais and the Hypermarkets and fill the boot with the best part of a 1000 cans.I reckon that should last us a weekend in Scotland.

Moggy
The Ferret Scout car. Still off topic but with a thin vintage aviation connection.
I had a pretty spectacular prang in a Ferret. As a humble Trooper, commanded by a very new 2nd Lt., one Victor Gauntlett, ‘we’ managed to stuff it into a transverse tank rut going too fast across country in long grass. ‘One 2nd Lt.’ was ejected from the turret ……….but recoverd to later father children!
We both went on independently to get quite deeply involved with Spitfires and fast cars.
A good friend and sadly missed.
