The Non-Aviation Photo Thread!

Hi All,

I know there was a thread like this a while ago, but I thought it was time for another one! I was thinking the other night how there are so many photographers on these forums but the only kind of shots we ever see from them are of aircraft (which I’m not by any means saying is a bad thing!) Let’s see your favourite shots of things other than planes. Here are a few of mine:

And… Err… The shameless plug for my Flickr site (which I’ve spent around 40 hours over the last 3 days creating)…

There are plenty of aviation shots on there as well though…

So come on photographers, let’s see ’em!

Very interesting, Adam. You’ve just convinced me I need an IR filter!

Superb shots from Germany, Tom!

Here are two photos taken with an Infra Red filter, which blocks out all but IR light. These are amongst my first shots taken with the filter, and getting used to the right settings and processing work flow will take a while.

The results is quite interesting.

not sure what the scary looking watermark type streak across this photo is:

thanks Paul. Yep, I ordered the IR filter, and it was dispatched today from Germany, so may get it by the end of the week. I can’t wait. Did you buy yours? ๐Ÿ™‚

Not yet no, but I did get a tripod so I’m half way there. IR Filter is next week’s toy!

Adam… You’ve just reminded me I need a trip to London with my camera for a bit of shooting around the city! You’ve also proved the quality from point and shoot cameras these days can be superb!

With regard to the polarising filter, you’ll probably see the most dramatic benefit when the skies are either clear or when the cloud is patchy but the sky is still blue and there isn’t a lot of haze. Did you order the IR Filter in the end?

Time for a laugh now! Here’s a little bit of my photographic past! Well… A few scanned shots I took before I really started getting into this rather expensive hobby! I took these when I was between 10 and 15 years old on a very basic film point and shoot.

Reighton Sands

The Red Cliffs Of Dover

North Yorkshire Moorland

I took this when I was around 13-14. I developed an early love for shooting sunrises and sunsets!

‘Tis been a while since I posted on here, so here are three shots taken today at Beacon Hill just outisde Loughborough. They are also my first shots taken using the RAW format and processed in Bibble, and I also took my new Polarising filter out for a whiz, this is what i came up with

spot the steam train on, I think, the Great Central Railway

A few more from me. For some reason Flickr puts a nasty purple border around all my shots when I post them in a forum!

Here are a few random ones I’ve just edited from a trip to Berlin last November.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/MMSR5/More%20Stuff/IMG_4358.jpg

The large orange figure in the right of this shot is none other than our very own EGNM!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y36/MMSR5/More%20Stuff/IMG_0244.jpg

The holes in this pillar are bullet holes from the wars. A stark reminder of what this beautiful old City has seen.

Lastly, a shot not from Berlin, but from round the back of the Tatton Arms near MAN from last Saturday!
