The Yugoslavs started the development of the Novi Avion(NA) which would’ve been a 4th generation light supersonic multirole fighter. It would’ve looked like in between of the Rafale, F-16 and the Gripen in some ways. There was major French, Swedish and Russian involvement but the project was scrapped by Serbs who had control after it after the break up due to no money so they cancelled it. Some guy claimed he worked on this NA and that these were the specifications. It is obvious the Serbs only purchased 16 Mig-29s which would’ve been as a stopgap measure until this plane was sopposed to fly in 1992 and enter service by early 1996. It would’ve been probably superior to the Mig-29 because there would’ve been no reason to buy it then.
