We live in Point Cook, Victoria, about a 10 minute drive from the superlative RAAF Museum. This affords me much pleasure when outside, for the unmistakable rumble of a radial engine always signifies something interesting flying overhead, not to mention the Tiger Moth and Mustang……
So, there’s a group of us on the front porch imbibing in my home-brew, looking across at Skeleton Creek, which flows past my front door. Kathy, my long-suffering but beautiful lady, is talking about my collection of aviation books, magazines, etc. and how I ‘know so much’ about aviation history.
Well. Taking a swig of beer I spy the front-on profile of an aircraft approaching from the north. I note in a undertone meant to be heard by everyone that it has a gull-wing, could be a Grumman flying boat, very interesting, must be headed for the Museum, I’ll be sure to check that out tomorrow, beautiful aircraft, looks single-engine, older design…….
Whereupon the gull-wing, single-engine flying boat put its legs down and landed on the creek.
Bloody pelican.

hmmm,
if it put its landing gear down its clearly a gull wing amphibian, not a flying boat, you should hang your head in shame lol
