I watched the excellent American movie “One Six Right”, the story of Van Nuys airport in California, and this comment struck a chord.
“The Only Price of Admission is an Interest in Aeroplanes”, was a comment on how they look after casual visitors to the airport and its viewing areas.
How many GA airfields in the UK could adopt the same. Does the airfield you fly from attract “anyone who’s interested”?
Each time I fly from Sywell, I’m always pleased to see activity in the spectators car park – and The Aviator seems to do a roaring trade on sunny weekend afternoons.
It seems to me we can all be ambassadors for GA. Each time we share our enthusiasm, I guess it’s potentially one less noise protester!
Any thoughts on this random thought???

I wish more people accepted that children are the future not unnecessary baggage as some seem to think. If they feel that way, why have children in the first place?

Making visitors welcome
I recently joined the local branch of Air Britain who I suppose most would class as plane spotters which is what they were in WW2.
They are men and women with a love of all things to do with aviation,
they visit service bases and unusual aviation sites, even flying abroad for their hobby.
At some airfields they are discouraged from visiting yet we need all the friends we can get.
I fly a Cessna Aerobat G-AZID out of Wolvermpton and specifically make a point of chatting to any visitors especially when they have children in tow for they are our future.
Aviation and airfields need all the friends they can get!
