The other monthly mag

Still states that BBMF Hurricane LF363 is going to India & in the Maurice Hammond article it states he is restoring 4 merlin engines for a secret 4 engined second world war bomber under restoration to fly in the uk.

Am not sure it is either fair or appropriate to “knock” other aviation magazines, or FlyPast/other Key titles publicly in this way – whatever the perceived or real injustice may be. After all, they can hardly respond, can they?

I enjoy FlyPast and equally enjoy Aeroplane. Personally, if I had to cut out one subscription it would be the former…..and that isn’t just because Aeroplane actually publish my articles, whereas….oh…never mind!!!:diablo:

The last lot of photos I sent to Flypast and Aircraft I have not got back. That was a in August and I didn’t get any form of contact as to wether they got the photos or not.
Have you checked that they recieved them by checking the tracking number? It could be that they are holding on to them for later issues.

Photo use depends on space and there is no particular pattern. I have had a ground static shot used and an air to air not used. Pretty well the same with all magazines and as with newspapers they will always favour the staff photographer who is on the payroll. Your image may be technically better but unless it is unique, the staff one is used.

Cees i’m not bashing Aeroplane, as i have bought the magazine as well. I’m just asking what other peoples experiences have been with it when sending in personal photos.

Perhaps Aeroplane bashing can be moved to general discussion?
Not very appropriate on an FlyPast forum. I am a great fan of
Aeroplane and it has it’s good and bad points but so has FlyPast.

I send photos in all the time (on disc) but they keep mine, not had any used this year though. Have you tried emailing the editor?

Talking of the ‘Aeroplane’ has anyone else on here sent photos in for use on there readers section, then heard and recieved nothing? I sent in some of my late fathers 50’s/60’s airshow photos last september (2008) together with a contact letter.. all sent recorded delivery, and despite numerous phone calls and answer messages i have heard nothing from them..!?:(

While on the subject of the current “other mag”

did anyone spot the P-40 in the background behind the A-20 that is being done for the RAF Museum?

Anyone have a serial no. or ID on it?

Let’s copy it correctly please, “four new Merlins for a very special UK-based four-engined WW2 bomber project” No mention of “restoration to fly”
