The paranoid Irish Air Corp

The Irish military have a forum for the 3 services. Its a forum not unlike this one except the IAC types aren’t quite the aircraft geeks that you find on here. I just signed up to it out of interest and found that their moderators are a paranoid bunch. One guy asked if the IAC had a capability to operate at night with its PC9s or new helicopters and the post was closed because the IAC will not disclose operating procedures! Its a simple question that is not going to destroy national security! We know and discuss openly the capabilities of pretty much everything that can fly but the IAC won’t say if it can fly at night.I also made a simple suggestion that if they want a tactical transport, (which the forum members seem to) they should get an older surplus C130 of some1, ie the americans, for a few pennies and use it for moving civilian cargoes to pay its way when they arent using it and got laughed at.
Similarily I suggested some of those 100’s of Hueys, Kiowas, Loaches etc that the USA is getting rid off would fulfill the needs for medium transport and utility they seem to want, only about a dozen or so, to replace Aloutte IIIs, Gazelles and an old Dauphin and had my sources questioned, like I was a spy, when its pretty much public knowledge to anybody with a copy of Flight International or AFM.Strange bunch those Irish military types.Makes the North koreans appear open.
