The Question that seems is taboo

Well I will ask it.
Do we need anymore Migrants, asylum seekers and refugees burdening our overloaded ,Health,Housing,Schooling and Social security systems?

I am sorry for them but go some place else.

A picture of a drowned child(as sad as it was seems to have got people in a ho haw)

How many UK children die in tragic circumstances each day/week and hardly get a mention?

I mean killed by dogs, cars, drownings, domestic violence and neglect?

Who is to say that some of the “refugees” are not ISIS members bent on causing war on us?

When we can support our own to a decent standard I might think again.

There was a mention in a thread of the Hungarian crisis in 1956,well I remember that very well.Lots of them that escaped and were admitted to Britain ended up in the old RAF Hednesford camp which was about 3 miles from my home.It would seem that the quota received were mainly criminals who saw great opportunities around them and spent thier days wandering around the local towns stealing anything that wasn’t nailed down.Thankfully most of them were sent to America!!So in all the Syrian refugees how many were “problem”families back in Aleppo or Damascus?

As it was, I got completely bored, however, thanks for stating what I now don’t need to watch.

Ha!

Hi Lincoln7

She’s left it all behind, and decided to become a Atheist after 9/11, she’s telling you about the Islamic culture mind set that goes hand in hand with their adherence to the religion of Islam!

She explains how the religion is far away from our culture in the West and tells it as it is for people who live under the Islamic culture and how they are basically waiting for death!

To be honest the video could perhaps be explained a little better, as unless you know about her, it can lead to, erm, confusion…:highly_amused:

Really, you surprise me, it’s not that we hear much from Muslims that have managed to leave their faith, and who then explain to us why the religion is not all its cracked up to be!

Don’t you think it’s refreshing to hear about the Islamic Cultural mind set?

That’s just got to be the biggest load of B.S. I have ever listened to.( Well, I gave up halfway through).
She just about admits to being brainwashed from a very young age.
What I can’t believe, is that she obviously believes in what she says.

[QUOTE=Lincoln 7;2255059]I have no doubts in you Moggs, that YOU could find all these fit young men jobs?. When all those young men are let in here, the flood gates will realy open, as they will be able to bring their wives, kids, uncles, aunts, and Uncle Tom Cobly as well in.
And who, exactly is going to foot the bill for these folks until, repeat, UNTIL they get a job here, bearing in mind most don’t speak English for a start.
If I.S. is letting members come to this Country under the Guise of legal/illegals, how many bombs and deaths will have to take place before someone realises, it’s the biggest bo***ck we have ever dropped, cus once they are in, there just aint no way we could send them back, y’know, human rights and all that jazz.

Are you suggesting that that article was balanced and factual, and that the truth was not spun to agree with a political prejudice?

**** off…..it’s in the Daily Mail!

(dabs foam from chin) Sorry CD, I guess not! OK the reason for the denigration of ‘media studies’ among a generation of conservative commentators was only my guess as to the motivation. Are you suggesting that that article was balanced and factual, and that the truth was not spun to agree with a political prejudice? I thought YOU were better than that 😉

It is this kind of deliberate misrepresentation that makes me realise why tories don’t like kids to learn how to deconstruct headlines.

Whereas foaming anti-Tories only make factual statements that they can back-up with hard evidence!

Honestly, I thought you were better than this…..I guess not!

In fact this should be taught in schools as a classic example of it’s kind, what the Mail tried to get away with in that article. ‘Exposes the ‘lie’ that the majority of refugees are from war zone’. Yep, they put ‘lie’ in inverted commas, because the headline writer knew it wasn’t a lie. The majority were from a war zone.

But because the majority were not from Syria they thought they’d get away with conflating the two to arrive at a made-up implication that would allow some foaming tories to say they were deeply concerned about it.

It is this kind of deliberate misrepresentation that makes me realise why tories don’t like kids to learn how to deconstruct headlines.

Hi Stu!

Dunno, that Wail report does show how any statistic can be spun to show what you want it to show. Here’s the data they are drawing on: http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/documents/2995521/6996925/3-18092015-BP-EN.pdf/b0377f79-f06d-4263-aa5b-cc9b4f6a838f

Seems that 56% are from ‘troubled’ regions – (Syria, Afganistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Eritrea, Nigeria, Ukraine and Somalia)

17% are from regions ‘at peace’ – (Russia, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania)

The remaining 27% are simply recorded as ‘Other’, so there’s no way of telling, but reading on indicates they include Congo, Vietnam, Georgia, Sudan, Mali, Iran, Sri Lanka and Libya.

So a Guardian refutation would read ‘Majority are from war-torn regions – between 56 and 83 per cent’ 🙂

While I agree the subject of immigration should be assessed and rules put in place to prevent abuse,
I think the majority of `abuse` seems to be from the work shy, lazy, ignorant, indigenous people from `this` country.

Totally incorrect – I think Lebanon has even more – 3 or 4 million. As well as Turkey and of course Syria itself with 3 or 4 million.

The story refers more to Saudi and the UAR and Emirates which have taken none I think.

Thanks for that – I have read a couple of times that the middle eastern nations are taking nobody, which is clearly incorrect.
