Credit to Anixtu for picking up the slack while I was MIA, he had some very interesting ones in his collection but the idea is not to show the whole ship but parts and make the grey matter work for those who partake!
So without further ado, here is the latest GtS from me- now this one really will make you think. I know I caught Wan the man out on the last one, so I’m trying to stump him again- he’s good but lets see if anyone else can beat him or I can stump him again!
Oh and Wan, no hard feeling mate- I know what fathering a child can do to you 😮

SURGEON GENERAL WARNING – WORK CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH 🙂
I got this warning from my dad- thought I’d share it with you!
*****WARNING*****
A dangerous virus is going around. it is called WORK. If you receive WORK from your boss, or anyone else, DO NOT TOUCH IT!
This virus wipes out your life completely. If you come into contact with work, go straight to the nearest pub and order the only known antidote which is called BEER!

Actually they are in the correct order mate, for some reason they came out different when posted, but right click on them and save as- you will see that I called them Guess 1- Guess 5
But ok, I’ll give you half marks for the Peacock class guess!
By: flanker30 - 13th April 2010 at 18:11
Eh, just a small point: LE Ciara is also a Peacock class patrol boat, same as the ones used by the Philippines Navy – do I get half marks?:D
And should 1 and 2 be switched? The crane and RIB on the Peacock (no. 1) and the wheelhouse of the Orca class (no. 2).

Wow, no one had a go? Wan? Mate, where are you?
Ok then here are the results:
1. HMCS Raven (PCT56) of the Royal Canadian Navy
2. LE Ciara (P42) of the Irish Republican Navy
3. GNS Anzone (p30) of the Ghanian Navy (as guessed)
4. Former HMAS Brisbane (DDG41) of the Royal Australian Navy- sadly now a dive wreck like so many vessels these days :(
5. Damen Class Patrol vessel of the Jamaican Defence Force Coast Guard (as guessed).
The three not guessed are here now

Ok guys, I’ll give you one more day on this one before I let it all out- you’ve done well to get two of them!

Not too sure about this, but is the first pic the aft deck of a Philippines Navy Peacock class patrol boat?
Sorry, not it’s not, interesting choice though.
Anzone is an ex-US Coast Guard Balsam class buoy tender built in the 1940s. If anything, that should also tell us something about simple, affordable vessels churned out during times of war that seemingly proved versatile and of sufficient substance to justify their prolonged existence. Also goes for some ocean tugs built around the same time still in service today around the globe (all of which diesel electric as well, which is increasingly popular on new ships again now).
My info on this vessel is way off- thanks for correcting that. After reading this I did a bit of checking and you are correct.
As for these vessels being economical and simple solutions- I totally agree. Perhaps the future vessels don’t need to be totally high tech and out there but lo tech and easy to operate and own!

Excellent work MPA, it is indeed GNS Anzone P-30, seen here with GNS Achimota P-28.

Truth be told I was looking for pics of GNS Yogoga P-29, but I can’t find any leading me to suspect that this vessel is now out of service and acting as a spares source to GNS Achimota which is of the same class.
Anzone is a clear case of the resourcefulness of most African navies, taking an old fishing trawler and turning it into a patrol vessel, imagine what they could do with the money spent on just one Zumwalt class vessel!

Third one: I’ll go for ghanaian navy patrol boat “Anzone”

Well done Flanker, it is indeed mate!
Recently the Jamaican Coast Guard took delivery of three of these vessels, Armed with a 20mm gun forward and two .50 cals they are the biggest vessels in the JDFCG fleet
Ok one down, who’s got eyes on what next?
By: flanker30 - 4th April 2010 at 23:51
Is the last one the Jamaican Coast Guard Cutter, the Damen Stan 4207 design?
By: Ja Worsley - 4th April 2010 at 18:50
Anyone having a go? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
