Looks like an Albatros joystick, and the seat looks British, don’t think the Germans used wicker much, did they?

The actual seat from Richtofen’s triplane was given to Roy Brown after the dogfight
He eventually donated it to the Military Institute institute located in Toronto Ontario Canada
It has been on display there for many decades now.
s far as I can remember the joystick is in Australia along with some other small artifacts , the rotary engine was in England along with the Spandau machine gunsThere are many bits scattered around the world and the “real” artifacts are well documented
However , as some have said there are many other “claim parts”that have no provenance

The items in the photographs are in the ‘Soldiers of Oxfordshire’ at Woodstock. I came across the earlier in the year.

Bits of the triplane are spread all over the world. The IWM has the engine, the RAF Museum has several pieces

Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre (Blenheim, NZ) has the starboard cross.

‘Packe’ is possibly t/Capt EA Packe, a flight commander with 32 Sqn. However I have no record of him making any claims.

No record of any RFC (or WW1 RAF) Majors by this name.

Does the squadron tie in?

According to a book I have read there is enough fabric from his Triplane to cover several aircraft!

I presume Major Packe shot down one of his previous aircraft being flown by another pilot?

The BoB Museum at Hawkinge also has several large parts on display.

I’m beginning to wonder if we collected all the “Red Baron” Fokker bits, we’d have enough material to build a B-29. 🙂

Which museum is this? IIRC bits of his triplane are at the IWM London.

When finished work I took some more of the baron and G-VPPL today, but airside. Had a nice chat with a guy from IAE aswell. 🙂 I’ll upload my pics later in the week as i’m working tomorrow and off to bed now.

Nice ! I have always liked the baron ! was always regarded, in the 70’s, as a very expensive executive transport !

Apparently Ralph Fiennes is playing Captain Roy Brown.
Surely then they should be making a film about the oldest fighter pilot on the western front??
Fiennes is 44.

Still, I hold out slightly more hope for this than I do for the recent Flyboys nonsense.

Yes i think this has been touched on before but i thought the video clip was worth a mention, im not sure how true to history this is going to be but they seem to have gone to town on the A/C.

Think this was mentioned very recently. A bit of a romanticised take on the Red Baron “legend”.

Wow! Just watched that bit of footage. Recognised an Albatross in there, as well as the usual Fokkers and SE5a – was that an RE8 in there, too??

They seem to be going for some “proper” realism, rather than just the bog-standard WW1 types.
