Its been a while so hopefully the MODs won’t merge this thread.
While they are very busy putting XH558 back together at Bruntingthorpe, I thought it would be good to open up where you would like 558 to appear next year. Be it a seafront display, RIAT, or Waddington. Maybe just a currency flight somewhere.
As you might know she is booked for Waddington, Jersey, Isle Of Man and The Mall, if Marshalls stick to the project plan.
Let me know please.

I don’t if I can help it, invest in anything that is made in Japan ,(although I did buy the live album by Deep Purple)

I’ll be late, coz I won’t be able to afford to drive my hugely uneconomical “common rail direct injection” 4×4 ,and you can’t ride a push bike up the M11.
You could always invest in a Toyota Prius and really screw the environment.

It’s not a soapbox its a bannana skin and the above comments (by me) were also tongue in cheek (in part) ;I don’t use smilies ,and as a result run the risk of misinterpretation, but hell live dangerously I say!
If the proposed eco taxes are as punitive as it seems they will be, then that will stop the b*gger flying, along with all the other “gas guzzlers”, and we will all be queing up to see Melvin’s Beaver (!), and Moggy’s Piper, and I’ll be late, coz I won’t be able to afford to drive my hugely uneconomical “common rail direct injection” 4×4 ,and you can’t ride a push bike up the M11.

Dear Sirs,
As you are aware, in order to secure dwindling natural resources, the government has decided to tax the use of fuel for leisure pursuits, including the use of fuel for most light aircraft. I see from our records that your aircraft (Insert name here) most certainly qualifies for this tax.
To avoid frivolous use of fuel, we have set this tariff at (Insert value here), and would be grateful if you would please fill in the attached form to allow us to generate your initial invoice.
Or did I just dream it…….

… it is their duty to go home early from whichever airshow they are attending.
That is so going to happen
Moggy
PS: There are those of us who take the ‘realistic’ rather than ‘optimistic’ view of the Vulcan plans who have nevertheless put our hands into our pockets.

I thought the “free loading thread” was closed…. Given that at any Duxford airshow, there are people leaving before the flying starts, (its true I’ve seen it) and that maybe up to a third leave before the flying finishes (true also ,even I do sometimes) and that the area is heavily policed, how many people will either bother, or indeed be allowed to “park up” and free load?
This A/C should, if the collective realists were right ,be ,residing in a “skip” by now,the fact that is not, is maybe down to those much vilified optimists who have put their hands in their pockets; one could argue that if the Vulcan does fly, and people who were aware of the campaign, and had the oportunity to contribute, but didn’t get to see it, they are free loading themselves, so it is their duty to go home early from whichever airshow they are attending.
Get off the soap box Stuart, I think you’ll find the above comments were/are tongue in the cheek comments.

A suggestion pervaded with all the realism we have come to expect.
Moggy
Now be fair, it is “very” practical. All those people forced to leave will make their way to the fields at either end of the runway, and continue to watch the display from there, leaving those who are stupid enough to pay the excess with unimpeded views.

Although, an airshow might finish at its scheduled time, those without a “Vulcan pass” would leave as per the norm, then after a suitable time to allow most of the visitors to leave, the Vulc would roll in (no pun intended), perform its display to the select few, and off into the sunset.

You’ll be lucky, with people allready whineing about the cost of getting in to certain airshows!! and what if you wont pay the supplement??? will you be blindfolded and forced to wear ear diffenders durring the Vulcan display :diablo: As with anything to do with the Vulcan flying again, totaly unrealistic

This wouldn’t cost the organisers anymore to set up, as all volunteers would still be in place fire crews etc, and those who had left would have had a full display for their money; the “Vulan pass” would be a prepaid arrangement, and if the minium no. required were not sold, the A/C would be cancelled, and moneys returned.
I don’t think that this is the way forward, and certainly the A/C wouldn’t reach it’s target audience, but it is at least a part solution .

Peter – Leading the Falklands War flypast should be a very certain Chinook callsign
‘Bravo November’ which was distinctly there and in the thick of it!
Can be lead by Margret Thatcher on top of the Utterly Butterlys as long as the Vulcan’s there!!!!

Thats great! So basically we all agree that its going to be fantastic to see the Vulcan fly once more over our shores. I can’t wait and you lot obviously can’t either.
Though not forgetting a huge vote of thanks to all those who have made it possible and all those hard working folks who are on the job itself.
Well done all of you, you are a credit to Britain.

I foresee a Vulcan supplement to air show entrance fees – 50 quid perhaps?
