The roundabout way to ACE?

Hi Guys,

The rest of the family has booked a holiday in Lanzarote for next April for two weeks. They’re trying to talk me in to going out for 5 or 6 days.

Suppose the simple option is fly to MAN or other, then get a direct flight to ACE?

BUT, since we do enthusiasts take the simple option :dev2:

Here’s an idea.

Belfast City – Heathrow, bmi A321
Heathrow – Madrid, BA 767/757 if you pick the right one
Madrid – Tenerife North, Ibera B744
Tenerife N – Lanzagrotty, Binter ATR

I priced that all above, return (though had to take bmi booking as December, can’t get as advanced as April 06) for around £200-£250. FCA MAN-ACE-MAN is the same, but a lot less exciting 😀

Endless variations though, fly home via TFS to BCN then Jet2 to BFS… but looks good to me. Who wants to go to Lanzarote then 😎 I am seriously tempted, planning to spend a night or two in Madrid to break it up.

Best part of two decades operating into the Canaries regularly and witnessing the ‘antics’ of the locals….I really don’t know where to start….low level visual circuits in sh*tty weather at night….ever seen a civil transport doing a Khe Sahn approach?…I’ve seen Binter do it several times after f*cking up their absurdly tight visual approaches. The problems partly stem from the local ATC giving preference to Binter over all others, and the crews always pushing it to comply with ATC’s favouritism…for example, a stream of charter jets on finals to a Canaries airport with 5 miles separation…much babbling in Spanish and a Binter ATR doing the aeronautical equivalent of a handbrake turn, diving into the sequence, about 2 miles ahead of landing traffic (clearly with ATC’s permission, but due to Spanish being spoken, a bit of a surprise to the jet on finals!).

They WILL kill people…don’t do it!

Thanks for sharing. I thought it may have been maintenance. My lawnmower sounds better than some of those ATR’s!!!!

Another possible route 😀
Any of them include a 744?

I don’t think that you can get a 744 from BCN to the Canaries, would have to fly from PMI to Madrid for that. But I think you can catch a Spanair 717 from BCN to ACE, or is that MAD too?

Easy don’t do BFS-BCN, though Jet2 do, but where is the fun in that? 😀

It’s not as if I’ll enjoy a few days with the family arguing among themselves, so I might as well try to enjoy myself getting to/from there. Perhaps a bit long to do it that way both ways, indeed I may just fly direct to the Uk again.

Need to investigate ferry services between Tenerife and Lanzarote now 😀

Sorry, was getting confused 🙁 Too many LoCos these days.

The alternative could be EZY to PMI then UX, IB or poss Vueling via BCN to ACE.

How about flying easyJet BFS-LTN and then flying on Monarch Scheduled LTN-ACE??

Monarch Scheduled operate a scheduled flight LTN/ACE/LTN every Thursday.

I would never, ever, trust my life in the hands of Binter. They are an accident waiting to happen, you have been warned!

Interesting assesment, What is it? Training, maintenance? Those large hills at the end of 03 at ACE????

What an incredible assortment of aircraft for such a cheap price.

That’s a bargain and if I were you, I’d go for it! 😎
