The run up to Legends begins…

Just been watching a B-25 (45-8811 I think) display over Duxford, if I see anything else arrive I’ll post it here.

This Info has come from the horses mouth (Duxford). But bear in mind it was compiled on the 5/7/05 so could well have changes

the horse will be shot at dawn if identified, by all of us as we should know that the actual program will not be confirmed untill after briefing ON THE DAY This is the norm for all shows at DX. & As stated on all P R stuff!”subject to weather & serviceability.”
Anything else is speculation.
did the doG get lost again!

The Dutch Cat, as far as I know, is still tech, but it was originally planned to be in the display/flypast.

As for Miss Helen, I don’t think she’s flown yet, following last year’s post-RIAT accident.

Thanks very much for posting the list – just a couple of questions-

1) TWO Catalinas  Plain Sailings and WHICH one? The Dutch one is reported to have engine problems!

2) What is the reg of the Icelandair DC-3? Neither of the two photos posted show it.

3) Has Robs Lamplough’s P-51D “Miss Helen” been repaired and flying again?

Unfortunately I do not have Saturdays programme. Will be at the show on Saturday and Sunday. Would like to have got up here today.
Weather is not looking that clever for both days.

Any chance of Saturday’s programme being posted?

So the Swiss D-3801 “MS-406” (listed above as “MS-308”, ts!) will be there, too….. for those who havent seen & heard this ship at La Ferté: You’re in for a real treat !

What’s your source for that?

MS308…surely not. It also lists only one Skyraider; there are two at DX.

It looks pretty real, I really hope it is – it looks awesome – but where did you get it?

I left at 6pm and following the formaiton practice practically everything else flew! It was still going on when i dragged myself away. The Connie is not coming, but the SAAB B17 display was awesome. What an aerobatic machine! Can’t wait for tomorrow.

The WWII formation wasn’t quite up to Legends Balbo standards, but the 2 B-17’s and 2 B-25’s in formation where impressive, let’s hope they do that at Legends (the B-17’s have never flown in formation at Legends).

Various a/c have turned up today, the contra-prop Spitfire was impressive when it went up to display this afternoon, and the close formation flying from Princess Elizabeth and Twilight Tear was very tight. The SAAB B-17 is quite aerobatic and put on a good show, if the pilot puts on the same show at the weekend it looks like the better photos will be taken down at the Land Warfare Hall end of the airfield (I was watching it from home and seemed to be lower and closer at that end…)

I also saw the French Skyraider turn up after I got home. I’ll post some pictures later if I get time, no doubt there be plenty of other people posting photos too!

If it’s a solo display, I’m really looking forward to it. That’s one good-looking machine.

IIRC, it was mentioned on here that the DC3 in question was practicing a solo routine yesterday. Perhaps the crew aren’t cleared for formations, so will be flying solo at the show?
