7th May 1960 and Kidlington are a date and venue long etched in the memory as being the first time I attended one of the annual sales weekends hosted by W S Shackleton & Co. Ltd..
A festival of classic De Havilland, Auster, Miles and Percival machines along with the first examples of the newer mainly American types, which would shortly start coming in in droves to replace them.
I seem to recall subsequent weekends were held at both Baginton and Sywell and they were perhaps the equivalent to the PFA Rally of their day.
What was the history of the firm and what ultimately became of it?
