The Shturm and the Ataka, guidance systems

Asked this on the Mi-24PN thread, no answer forthcoming, I assume because the thread is now too far down the page 🙂

No reply this time round will indicate that noone knows/ cares 🙂

A question about the Ataka; until recently it was my impression that the Ataka is an improved missile for the Shturm system, with better range (6km instead of 5km) and better armor penetration as well as tandem HEAT warhead, but still being SACLOS radio command guided. However recently sources have changed and stated it has 8km range, and is guided by ‘narrow radar beam’. What does this mean? Does this make it superior to the Ka-50s Vikhr-M ATGMs? If the Ataka is guided by narrow radar beam, how can the Shturm-S system based on the MT-LB fire them? Doesn’t it follow that both must be radio command guided? Or is narrow radar beam just another way of saying radio command guidance? I’m sorry but I’m ignorant about such guidance terms. Who can clear it up for me?
