Hi the six:

thank you for answering my question. I really like the new layout of the six website. I really hope that the six might be able to carry passengers in the future. I might just have to come to the next open day and see if it is possible to have a look in side the dc6.

thank you again i really appreciate the time you took to answer my question.

Hi The Blue Max and The Six thank you for answering my question i really appreciate it.

The six may I ask is there any plans to let people look inside the dc6 on any of the Coventry open days? also I can not wait to see the new updates for the website.

thank you for your time

Anthony

The updated DC-6 website is now properly up and running. There is some great new content and a fascinating (and growing) history feature which adds detail to the story of this important aircraft.

Subject to approval by the organiser, the DC6 is open for inspection at all public events. She is often available at Coventry Open Days, too, except if she is parked in a restricted area. Just ask the marshalls when you arrive.

Unfortunately we were advised by AA late in the week before that they were unable to make the time slot for the Six at Sywell, This was due to the fact that they had been informed by the management at Coventry that the Airport would be closed between 3 and 4 pm. This was within time that she needed to get Airborn for Sywell, at that stage we had Early slots that needed to go to Dunsfold so couldnt be movd and the end of the display was very much governed by timings for both the Vulcan and the Reds. Although it was looked at very closely we unfortunately could not move the slot for the Six, it was looked at repositioning the A/C to Wellsborne before the Closure at Coventry. Late on saturday i recieved a call to say that the powers at be at AA decided that repositioning was to costly and all they could do was cancel:(
This left us a big hole in the show to fill and with the loss of the Vulcan as well we did they best we could in the circumstance.
Although display dirrectors have to be flexible to cope with weather and other problems it also has to be done with saftey as the most important issue, to rejig the display again late on the saturday evening to accomadate the Six was not an option.
As it happened i belive Coventry did not close after all:(

Anthony apparently Coventry Airport were ‘closed’ at short notice during the display slot so she couldnt get out.

Real shame that as it was one of my choices for the line up and anyone who has seen her display would know that she would have been one of the stars of the Sywell show.

Still we had some other fab acts to make up for it – maybe for 2010… 🙂
