In 1967 the Children’s Film Foundation produced a film entitled ‘The Sky Bike’. The film featured the then Tiger Club owned Tiger Moth G-ARAZ. What I’d like to know is on which old airfield was the film made?*Any ideas? I don’t think the airfield was Bovingdon, however I suspect it was probably somewhere in the home counties.
Many thanks
Chris

Hendon had been used in an episode of ‘Department S’ in the late 60’s.
Also (according to Wikipedia) “The entrance to the aerodrome can be seen in “the parade” scene in the 1967 film The Dirty Dozen”

Thanks for the replies and YouTube links. RAF Northolt was definitely the RAF airfield where the Constellation features. I too was beginning to wonder if the derelict airfield could be RAF Hendon simply because of the railway or reservoir embankment. Hendon had been used in an episode of ‘Department S’ in the late 60’s. It would appear that some dismantling of the Bellman hangars was in progress judging by the piles of scrap sheeting that can be seen in some of the airfield shots.
Thanks
Chris

It feels like more than one location ( apart from Northolt) one site seems semi derelict but the other not so, and there seems to be a railway embankment on the boundary which made me think of Hendon, or Radlett.
Sometimes it looked a bit like North Weald, but the hangars didn’t seem quite right. Debden, Kenley …….?

I see 3 Bellman hangars in a row plus at 21:08 a couple of what look like General Service Flight Sheds?

More here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X91ckIPu9GA – around the 14 minute mark looks very much like RAF Northolt south side but I suspect the main action was filmed elsewhere
