The Spitfire Experience….for £30

Hats off to Brian Smith for this fantastic charity-raising venture. British ingenuity at its best:

Fair play to the guy. He’s raising money for charity, which is never easy at the best of times. If you want a perfect Spitfire replica as part of the deal, you clearly need to go elsewhere. However, for the majority of the population, this is a great idea.

I totally agree with you Bruce, and as you say it’s for charity, not to line his pocket.

Indeed. I think I’ll save my thirty quid. It’s amazing how easily people are parted with their hard-earned as soon as the word ‘Spitfire’ is mentioned.

I’m underwhelmed. Three rear-projection screens showing some pixelly graphics and an LCD to present the instrument panel, which doesn’t even fit the cockpit properly? Oh, and the simulated ‘engine’ noise.

Was at the silverstone classic yesterday. Someone was offering a Spitfire experience for £35 a go on the hour which sold out. For this you got talked around the cockpit of a plastic replica coded J-EJ while you sat in it and then got to start the engine. Must have been about 150 people around it each time they started the lawn mower engine hidden inside. Unsure where the money went but they had a spot in the RAF village

…and everyone who has reviewed it has loved it too. Me, I love the L plate!
