This was Steve’s last post to me,
Darren – don’t EVER hesitate to post photos of Chipmunks. That’s an order.
…..and I would like to keep to my orders by starting this new thread in memory of a good mate. It’s simple….when ever you photgraph a Chipmunk, post a picture on this thread (try and use thumbnails if you can, as then the images will stay on the thread over month’s to come). Lets keep this thread updated to ensure that Steve is always in our minds. I am hoping that Nick and Damien can add a few pictures from todays funeral, but here’s a couple to kick things off.
Please keep all posts to DH Chipmunk pictures as this is what the thread is for.
CHIPMUNKS FOREVER!

Here is The Shuttleworth Collection’s then Chipmunk WB588 at the 40th Anniversary Day in 1986. Apologies for the quality but this was taken by a 13 year old me on a 110 film camera (remember them) and photographed again with the digital as I don’t have a scanner! Returned to Old Warden last year and noticed they have another ‘Chippie’ in an RCAF livery which is pictured in an earlier post, checked on line and WB588 appears to happily still be flying in private hands as of last year. Sounds as though Steve was a great man to know.

Here’s some from an airshow at Yeadon around 1956.

Hanging from the roof of the RSAF Museum…
What a waste of a good Chipmunk.
I hadn’t realised it had been that long, I’m fairly certain that I’m not the only one who misses his humerous banter on the forum. And always his ‘I’ll get me coat’ after some silly remark. I wish I’d had the pleasure of actually meeting him as he seems to have been one of the world’s top blokes whose passing has left the world a poorer place.

Mike: Well done for the prompt – intentional or not.
It’s virtually the anniversary of the day we lost our dear friend, Steve. Let’s read Darren’s first post on this thread again and get a few more Chipmunks added.
I’m in Oshkosh right now, give me a week or so and I’ll post some beauties from here.

Nice except that she needs some trousers on instead of showing her naked legs like that.

What a gorgeous aeroplane.;) You probably realised that was not me, but I did recommend Connington to the pilot, so I’ll take the credit! 😀
Somehow I thought that you would not be flying it from the rear seat:D
The Anglo-Italian Fusion food on offer in the resturant is fantastic (Bacon & Egg Panini;) )
Nicely turned out Chippie

Seen yesterday arriving at Conington, and the fastest bit of parking I have seen in a long while…..:D

The good news is that this road is definitely named after the aeroplane and not the furry friend.

Janie, like the shadow on the hangar door. I somehow think Steve would have appreciated it too. The more of these photos I see, the more I’m convinced that it doesn’t matter what the colour scheme is like or the angle it’s viewed from the Chipmunk is a beautiful looking little machine.

Thanks for sharing, Landyman. It’s beautiful. I want it.
Here is one of my little girl (via the phone) which I took from the cockpit this summer.

A few more from Sywell’s Chipmunk fly-in that preceded last Sunday’s air show.
I have a feeling that Youngy would have been smiling – and he even arranged the weather so he didn’t “have to get his coat” 😉
