The elusive Mr Sun paid a brief visit yesterday, so I hopped on my bike and got down the airport for some snapping opportunities.
First thing I came across was this BA 737 minus it’s engines parked remotely by a fire gate. It’s reached the end of it’s lease and will be going to the USA I’m told.
The rest is as you can see….

Great shots as ever 🙂
Especially love the BMI F100, G-BUSH and G-MCEA shots 🙂

Matthew: THe Qantas RR 767s are ex BA on a kind of permenant lease. BA won’t ever be taking them back 😉
Mongu: Yes the 319s will be going to Jersey, and everywhere on the current LGW Shorthaul network. There are no plans that I am aware of to scrap any of the routes except the Isle of Man, but they told us that about 3 years ago 😀

If the LGW 737’s are going, how about destinations like Jersey? Will the A319 get into there?

Great shots Ren! Shame about the BA B737s!

The Airbus-320 looks great!

Some excellent shots as per usual! 😀
I did question the fate of G-DOCM a few weeks back, but nobody seemed to be too sure of what was happening with it. I saw it following the meet up in Glasgow and again last month, it hadn’t moved from that position.
A shame really, because I flew on this aircraft ages ago, back in February 2002 on a flight from London Heathrow to Barcelona. As we queued at the runway for departure, Concorde was departing and the 737 shook wildly for a few seconds.

I’m always on the lookout for an easy tenner ! 😀

Great pics!
By the way Fren, if you fancy an easy tenner you should send the G-BUSH registration picture to Private Eye. They’re bound to publish it. 😀

To be honest normal service has been resumed, the weather yesterday was one of a few sunny days there’s been all summer.
Those nose on shots were taken through a crash gate on the north perimeter facing the runway 05 holding threshold. One of the best spots especially in the evening when the sun is behind you.
Very good shots indeed! 🙂

Qantas have RR-Powered B767’s as well as GE varients!
Didn’t BA sell some of their’s to Qantas ?

The 757s are staying, the A321s are just replacing A319s. 757s will remain alongside the 767s until BA can find someone willing to buy them. This is very unlikely as the 767s are RB211 powered, and no-one else flies them, so BA will most likely run them into the ground until they are ready to be scrapped.

Loving the pics!

Not really wishing to resurrect recent heated debates, but it seems based on this topic and another recent one that GLA is better… for weather, at least!!!
Andy
Nice pics by the way – didn’t realise you could get so close at GLA!

I seem to recall Wysiwyg saying his brother flies BA 737’s That’ll make them an all Airbus family ?
Any word on the long term future of BA’s 757’s Mark ?

In October the first of BAs A321s start arriving into Heathrow, and are being deployed on routes to Amsterdam, Madrid, Brussels, Copenhagen, Paris, Oslo, Geneva, and Zurich. Following the first arrivals of A321s in October a number of A319s presently based at Heathrow will transfer across to Gatwick, and start replacing 737s there. When the last of the A321s is delivered to Heathrow new ordered A319s will then replace the last remaining 737s at Gatwick. A320 conversion training has already begun on Gatwick based pilots, but the whole process won’t be completed until the very end of next year at the absolute earliest.

On second thoughts, I need to get to the airport, before she sets off…have a quick look 😀
Maybe they’re keeping it for you Matthew as your “new boy” project ?

Some more shots from yesterday, including registration of the day G-BUSH, didn’t think BA were involved in the US elections but there you go… (lol) 😉
