This is so comprehensive its frightening – have a look and see!
For example did you know a 206 Sqd Sunderland was the camera ship in The Purple Plain – nope, me neither!

Were they the real thing then? I always assumed they were mock-ups.

Very nice thread TEXANTOMCAT,
I have a question about this movie :
Never So Few
1959 v
USAAF- F. Sinatra; Commando raid on Japanese air base (?). Used actual flying Ontario Air Museum Hayate (or Frank?) plus static Zeke.
Did really Frank set fire to this aircraft ?
cheers,
Olivier

Nice link John. But it doesn’t have advertisements with the Bell 47. There was a famous one made in New Zealand featuring an RNZAF Sioux that won international awards and still crops up on some of those advert compilation shows. It was made in the 1970’s for B.A.S.F. audio cassettes, and was set in the Korean War, MASH style. A chap gets a package from home, a cassette, which has his missus on it singing a ‘Dear John’ letter song to him. At the end, where’s he’s devastated by it, his mate who liked the tune says “Play it again John!”. A classic.

Where Eagles Dare
Distinctly dodgy Luftwaffe Bell 47
Moggy
For the best one type movie list I’ve seen, check out Prof. Charles Lumsden’s excellent Bell 47 site from the Univ. of Toronto….
It has everything from TV (Whirlybirds) to films (various Bond epics as well as MASH and a lot of things you’ve never heard of, let alone seen)…to music videos to Album covers (Abba’s “Arrival”).

Cheers to all helicopter fans… 😀

Where Eagles Dare
Lovely opening shot of JU52
Distinctly dodgy Luftwaffe Bell 47
A lot of T6 getting totalled by a bus.
My favourite bit is when they have just paradropped and are trudging through the snow on their way to the Schloss Adler. Watch the foldable stocks on their SMG. The continuity girlie obviously missed them and they are extended or folded at random from shot to shot.

Is that list not quite out of date? I don’t see The Tuskeegee Airmen on there, either.

At a quick glance, I can not see Pearl Harbour, crap film but a lot of aviation content.
Plus Dark Blue World, now this one I do like…
