Hi all,
Here’s an intriguing story:
“Just as the Messerschmitt Bf 109 was derived from the civil Bf 108 Taifun so the Spitfire was derived from the four seat cabin monoplane…”
See the full story and artwork below:
Thanks

spitfire type tourer
Could this be what is the “What if”
By: knifeedgeturn - 28th June 2012 at 11:00
I’ve seen mention that the Attackers wings, (that it inherited from the Spiteful) were, less efficient at high mark numbers, than those of the Spitfire; so much for progress

You are forgetting the Attacker, Spiteful wings on a gash jet body

Great Stuff! Love the 224 derivative!
Here’s another for you:
The Supermarine Jetfire:http://hushkit.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/the-ultimate-what-if-the-supermarine-jetfire/
I hope you enjoy this nice What-If.
We are currently working on features on the P.1154 and Fiat G.95 STOVL fighters.

Had a ‘what if’ thought a few years ago, came to the conclusion the Supermarine 224 might have been developed further as a back-up to the Hurricane.
Tear drop canopy, Merlin engine and on another sideview, retracts.
How far Supermarine would have gone is purely guesswork.

Naaa…
I’m not sure that it’s true to say that the ‘109 was ‘derived from the ‘108 ‘. Same designer, same period, vaguely similar looks. Probably no more than that.
Methinketh idle hands need more work…! :diablo:

If the Spitfire never made it you would of had.
Compulsory German lessons in school; Mum and Dad called away on the Auschwitz Express, and never seen again.

What if the AM had fast tracked “Mitchells bomber” and in 1940, the response to the Luftwaffe attacks, was the carpet bombing of Berlin?

Lots more Hawker Typhoons
Maybe we would never of got to Typhoons if The Spitfire had never made it !

Taifun is german for typhoon
I obviously don’t have my sense of humour tuned in to this …

More  like A CON! And why give it the name of a Hawker fighter

Pre-war alliteration was all the rage. No Supermarine design would be given a name that did not start with an ‘S’. Sparrow was the best they could come up with for a landplane.

Dream on.

That is lovely,
inkspot would you be able to contact me to discuss your artworks via hushkiteditorial@gmail.com? Thank you.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the what-ifs, we’ve got some more crackers coming soon. I’m looking forward to the Tornado F.Mk 5, developed when Typhoon was cancelled!

Better off discussing the b12/36; at least that existed.
Something like this?
It is nice to see and have fun with the speculation and what ifs however. The Supermarine Tourer makes sense though.
