I was just wondering peoples views on if The Wright brothers could see whats going on today in the Aviation Industry but more specifically bad things such as 9/11 and fighter jets bombing countries would they have still wished to have discovered powered flight was possible?
Further to that, if they hadent what kind of state do you think the world would be in nowadays? 50 years behind now? More? Less? What do you think (apart from aviation) wouldnt have happened as a indirect result?

History is written by the victors.
There was someone so close to the wright brothers that people from the local area argue he flew first. I just can’t remember for the life of me what his name is.

If the Wrights hadn’t flown their Flyer on December 17th 1903, someone else would have flown a heavier-than-air aircraft mere months later.
Wrong again GA… 😀
If everyone was so close to the Wrights in controlled powered flight, how came when they gave exhibitions in France in the late summer of 1908…the general opinion was they were far ahead of the competition?
The London Daily Mirror hailed them in a front page headline…”The most wonderful flying-machine that has ever been made.” There are descriptions of a Farman struggling through wide, flat turns, while Wilbur flew tight figure 8’s over Le Mans.
Bleriot conceded they had at least a “…momentary superiority” over French aviators. This mind you coming 4 1/2 years after their flight at Kitty Hawk.
A French syndicate…and I belive an English one as well, paid big money for design rights…something I doubt they would havbe done if all the details were in the “public domain”.
True, other people were in the air, but none had the degree of controlability as the Ohio boys.
It’s all in the histories, if you care to read it.

guess who they solicited to for their airplanes…that should answer your question. It’s as silly as we shouldn’t invent engines…look at our usage of oil now…

why all the BOLD text it annoys me especially when you are using with someones name!
Because I choose to, Andrew.
No other reason, and no further justification needed.
OK? 😀

When it comes to controlled powered flight the Wright brothers were way ahead of any of their peers.
realy, you’ve never heard of a brazilian the flew further than them Wright Brothers did and it is disputed that it was BEFORE them too
