Yes Matt. Mag switches are a clue but not the full answer. Try again. bazv, quite correct, and if you are one of those who swing from behind the prop, much easier to switch off if the “driver” cocks up the throttle position.

My late friend James Gilbert, who had lots of TM time, once told me that it was not unusual for a rear-seater reaching up to get the other pilot’s attention by tapping him on the shoulder to inadvertently turn off one or even both mags.

Handy for the prop swinger to be able to see the position of the switches…esp ‘off’ when priming/sucking in before start !
Not so easy on (say) a chipmunk…I always physically checked the switches position in the unoccupied cockpit but took it on trust with the pilot !

Look like some of the footage at least was filmed at Barton. I think that Tiger was once based at Breighton – may still be.
