Third Heathrow Runway set for Approval

Hey,

A third runway at Heathrow, which could give British aviation a vital boost as European competition intensifies, looks set to be given the go-ahead by the government.

Deano, that’s my first question to someone who rings me up as Tower Supervisor to complain about the noise…..”Where did you last go on holiday? And did you fly from Heathrow?” :diablo:

The Air India Express B737-800s are delivered through BHX, aren’t they?

I’ve seen 4 out of the last 5 that went through there. 😀

VT-AXA went through LHR I thinks and the rest followed on via BHX. Not 100% sure though.:o

What gets me is the very people who whine about airport expansions etc are the very people who will board a plane to fly on holiday

Concorde is over by the BA hangars, and I think it will stay there. Once the 27R holding area is returned to service, there won’t be room for it. It’s place near the 23 threshold was only ever temporary.

There is still untapped capacity at LHR for passenger ATMs at LHR, once the bizjets, delivery flights, cargo flights, royal/VIP flights etc are removed elsewhere.

I would imagine that the “untapped” capacity that you are talking about are spare slots which have no current use, and are not available at the same time each day which is what I imagine any airline would want so that they could use it to it’s maximum commerical advantage.

Still, it’s only London, so Labour will do all they can to make it an unfit place to live, as most of their voters are up north.

Some of us “up North” are fed up with all the excess spending being spent on London to the detriment of “up North”.

Didn’t a Kenyan 737 come through in the last couple of weeks?

…plus Concorde’s parked on it isn’t it?

They moved Concorde to the area over the bmi hangar, didn’t they? I don’t know whether they have moved it back or not.

Kenya Airways gets its B737s delivered through LHR. I used to live near heathrow in the mid 80’s and quite often saw flights landing on the cross runway in bad weather.

23/05 is no longer a runway. It was withdrawn from service officially last year, practically a few years before that.

Thames Gateway, I’m not sure how many you think there are, but I’d estimate no more than four cargo flights and four bizjet/VIP flights a day, and some days there are no bizjets at all.

Can’t remember the last time I saw a delivery flight at LL.

However, one could (and perhaps should) argue that LL is over-capacity at the moment, we just do not have enough stands to park all the aeroplanes on.

If this goes ahead, in my mind it would be the environmental disaster of the century, which subsequent generations will hate there forbears for.

There is still untapped capacity at LHR for passenger ATMs at LHR, once the bizjets, delivery flights, cargo flights, royal/VIP flights etc are removed elsewhere.

If the government allows this, it just shows what a sham all there blathering about the environment and green taxes is. Still, it’s only London, so Labour will do all they can to make it an unfit place to live, as most of their voters are up north.
