Just a few questions about Southside..

1. Are there any shops there?

2. How big is it and many people are usually there?

3. Are there any entrance fees etc?

4. Is it all grass or what?

Southside at MAN is great, you can get much much closer then at the Viewing Park.

Great shot!

Directions to southside:

Exit the M56 at J6 (sighposted freight terminal) and head towards the viewing park. Instead of turning in to the viewing park, carry on and you’ll pass through 2 tunnels. At the round about, take your first left and park just around the corner on the lane. You’ll see the runway at the top of the hill. You have access to the full length of 24L/06R.

That’s right, yes?

Pretty good pic, but where was it taken?! Which location at MAN?

Round on the southside I think, looks like a 24L departure.

I HATE that photo. If it had not been for that photo my photo would probably have been pic of the week at JP.net!

Virgin Atlantic Airways
Boeing 747-443
Manchester – International (Ringway) (MAN / EGCC)
UK – England, May 8, 2005
This shot gives the distinct impression that the photographers are on the same level as the departing 747. Whereas, really there is a 40ft hill in front of them and then a 20ft high fence before you are airside.

It looks like the 747 has just been pasted there IMO, How close are they to the actual aircraft?

Nice photo though.
