This week's homework question

To follow on in the tradition of Robbo and JDK, I took this photo yesterday. Which UK Museum is it from ? (and it’s not Snapper’s house before anyone says that !)

The Spit is in the markings of George Darley, CO during the battle. Its a replica of course, fibreglass, and the money was raised principally by my mate Jim, Auxiliary rigger from 1938. Prize question – where was the Spit acquired from?

No, it’ll only get really worrying when someone wraps one in hessian and photographs it as a WW2 cone !

This is the start of a very worrying trend…

I have to admit it’s a museum I’ve not (yet) been to. It’s on the list. Nice pics. Where’s the traffic cone?

Ok – it’s off the 609 memorial display at Elvington. (thought you’d have known that JDK !)

An impressive part of the museum.

I don’t think I can do it full justice, but here are a few photos of this part of the museum (I’ll post some of the rest of the museum under a different thread)

And for the rest of us?

Somewhere with a very flat Typhoon, clearly.

D’oh. Thought you might get it Snapper !

Actually I was very impressed with the display inside. I thought the photos and histories were very impressive. I liked the drawings of individual pilots, which made it feel a lot more human than some displays I’ve seen, particularly when you realise you’re looking at pictures of some guys who didn’t survive the war.

A nice touch to have the replica spitfire outside in the correct squadron markings.

I thought that it was a moving display.

Hmmm, I have no idea at all. Not even which end of the particular building.

Incidentally, what are your honest opinions of the display inside please mate – don’t pull punches, we need to know. Also, any suggestions for improvement? Cheers.
