This beauty, showing P9374 on a frosty morning at Duxford, arrived in the post today from Roobarb.

Thank you, Col, and a very Happy Christmas to you and yours!

I suppose it makes a seasonal change from the Roundel Police!!

Speaking of seasons and the Roundel Police: of course we all know (don’t we) that underwing roundels were not introduced on the black&white underside scheme until the Battle of France started in the earnest, by which time (mid-May) the only whitish thing on the ground was the sand on Dunkirk beaches… Not sure what tractors were used there.

(My coat on, already.)

Just to be really pedantic, the Trolly Acc is a post-war type and is completely out of period.

There’s always one!

For heaven’s sake, Ian, the centrepiece of the card IS the trolley-acc. It is the Spitfire that is clearly out of period! 😀

1940s tractor tyres:

http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/21240-bomb-train-photo/

I think even the roundel police would be hard-pressed to state what the tracks would look like in the frost. Anyway, I think it’s expletive gorgeous, and am dead jealous.

More to do with the angle of the scanning than Roobarb’s photography. Just for the benefit of the un-seasonally picky who would presumably prefer flying reindeer to aeroplanes!

I didn’t say it was, I was just telling him what else he needed to tweak on his rework. The only deer I’m looking fwd to at Christmas will be flying out of the oven and onto my plate 😀

Nice one Steve, now all you need to do is tilt the world back up and put the horizon level 😉

I took that picture in 1941 :stupid:

Here’s the original, the colour version has been photoshopped

I can assure you that this scanned version is pretty cr*p compared with the original. Just as well, otherwise you’d all be downloading it and saying it was one of yours… 😉

Sorry if I didn’t present your goods in a better light, Roobarb. However, nobody can really steal it at low-res.

It really is a stunning pic.

And thank you, Moggy, for the apostrophe policing. Are you related to Lynn Truss? Problem is, once it is in the title one can’t go back to edit. Well, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it. 🙂

(T1940 – No need to worry, I had a spare apostrophe you could use.) :p

Not sure about the tractor tracks, but I would not want to be called Mr Picky!

I think Mr Picky is correct. The wrong kind of tyres for 1940, I’m sure.

I suppose it makes a seasonal change from the Roundel Police!!
