Thomas Cook cancel florida flights

I have just heard Thomas Cook have cancelled their flights to florida today from Newcastle and possibly tommorow from Glasgow, along with posibly gatwick due to the huricane in the area.

no doubt all pax will get a refund.

there is no more regarding this at the moment …

I have a couple of pals on the 747 with Air Atlanta and they are both in Dubai at the mo. Don’t know who they are contracted to though.

True, but remember that a significant part of the normally-available long-haul airlift capacity is still engaged in flights to and from the Middle East.

Looks like some unfortunates could be in for a long wait. 🙁

middle east?

why are they there?

A quick call to Air Atlanta will sort them out.

Remember, its not just about getting people oput there. There are already people in florida who need to be brought back.

A couple of 747s will sort out the backlog in a day

Exactly. Charter airlines should be able to source standby aircraft fairly easily. Since they’re emerging from the peak summer season, it shouldn’t be a massive problem.

The Saturday Monarch flight (MON365) is waiting to decide whether to fly from Newcastle to Sanford.

Might even be enough meat on the table for Titan to get a 757 or two in on the clean up.

Titan trans-pond, I’m sure that’d please matt (MANAIRPORTMAD)

Qiyte bad there now i believe. he backlog of pax will get bigger and bigger. I know by experience, that there will be a lot of UK pax there so to take them home will be a slow process!

yes i agree, but with the airports possibly not opening until Monday morning, it looks like a late sunday night set off for the glasgow pax.

But that leaves the question how are thomas cook going to play this, they have a vancover flights leaving on Sunday, Cancun on Monday, nothing on tuesday from Manchester, if they use their own aircraft to bring pax back then these flights are going to be put at least 48 maybe even 72 hours behind schedule.

As an aside, most people tend to get angry because of lack of communication, rather than the fact that there is a hurricane in tow.

Imagine, you’d saved up for two or three years to go on a dream holiday and then you get your flight cancelled. No amount of ‘reality’ will stop you from being angry and frustrated and if you don’t get told what is happening frequently, people will get annoyed, particularly if they have 2 previously very excited, now very disappointed, tired and bored kids with them.

All I’m saying is, this will be a highly emotional time for passengers and their reactions at times like this won’t necessarily be their normal reactions.

I agree, some people who don’t understand will let off steam – and thats not right.

For now, I’m just hoping everyone will be OK out there.
