Hi,
I have been looking on seat guru and review sites etc at the 2 airlines, i am looking to go book a trip to mexico and travel in October. I have flown long haul with thomson but not thomas cook.
In your oppinions who would you recomend? i have read many bad things about thomas cooks seats being cramped and the IFE being very old and not working.
Thanks in advance

Thomas Cook’s A330’s are nice planes to go on. As are Thomson’s 767’s.
Thomas Cook’s A330’s ptv’s are old and crash and need replacing. The toilets downstairs are good. The seats are not good if you want to sleep.
Thomson’s 767’s are better, newer ptv’s, better seats and better onboard service and nicer meals.
You got those the wrong way round. TCX has a rolling video so its virtually impossible to crash.
Thomson PTV’s have to be reset often and on some planes dont even work at all.

I’ve flown TCX to Kos and Corfu on their 757s
I’m 5,10, so not tall by any standard, yet I still had no legroom at all!
Honestly, I had to sit at an angle as my knees were digging into the seat in front.
The service itself was fine however. Friendly staff.
And when two of their planes went tech the same day, causing 8 hours of delays for our flight home from Corfu, they busses us to a 4 star hotel and laid on an all you can eat buffet. They did what they could, it was too short a time to assign rooms, so was uncomfortable at times, but all in all, it was pleasantly dealt with.

I have had 4 recent flights with Thomas Cook. All flights were pleasant with friendly crew and fair food. My only beef with the airline is its call cantre. They are still playing the ‘thank you for understanding, we are working hard to alleviate the problem’ queing message after a year!

Thomson crew can be very rude and sarcastic where as Thomas Cook are very friendly.

He was referring to the PTVs (personal televisions)…not the airline/aircraft itself.;)

Flew with TC in 2010 to Bridgetown A330, excellent flight, clean plane good crew, as far as in-flight entertainment was ok, didn’t have issues with the on demand IFE, last year flew with Thomson again to Bridgetown, 767 ex First choice, plane was dirty, IFE didn’t work, food was poor and staff were horrendous. I would chose Thomas cook, it’s a shame as Thomson “old Britannia” used to be first class, a real shame.
