The title should have pulled you in, now please help me all you Monty Python afficionados.
IIRC during every/most MP shows there were advertisements for Thoroughgood Garterettes and for a substance – a wonder compound of some sort that could be used for any purpose whatsoever. For example it was equally superb as a Toast-spread or as a lubricant for hinges … and so on. A real all-rounder.

I was quite a big Monty Python fan, but I can’t remember either of these; are you sure you’re not thinking of The Goodies, or some other programme?
