Does any body know where this film was actually filmed. I understand it was meant to be Brooklands and called Brookly in the film. In a few shots there appears to be large areas of concrete/tarmac just on the edges of the shots and as the race track, hangars etc are replicas and parts of a huge film set was this constructed at a redundant airfield?

Forgive me for being pedantic, but the RAF hangars at Booker were actually Bellmans, somewhat smaller than T2s.
It is not the size but what you do with them that matters.

I believe RAF Henlow was used too – though not sure for what role or scenes.

The wooden hangar complex was built along the hard runway at Booker (High Wycombe) which had just been released by the RAF. Other parts of the field were used for various scenes, such as the northerly corner, with the haystack and the Demoiselle. Additional locations included Dover, and a flying unit was sent up to Skegness.
Derek Piggott flew the Boxkite (replica) all the way back from Skegness to Booker, with about five fuel stops!

some filming was also done at/near Old Warden, they used the old Railway line at Biggleswade.

Booker. They built a race track and a bunch of hangers but in some shots you can see the Booker T2 hangers in the background. The main area was close to where the M40 is now.
