BA and Virgin should merge.

Why is that?

Someone give this man a cigar. 😀

I am reliably informed that these are indeed airframes that were originally ordered by SIA who are, by happy coincidence, a 49% shareholder in Virgin Atlantic.

A rather cosy arrangement all round, I’d say.

are you alound to smoke on this forum thougth it been banned :diablo:

I had thought that out , but is this going to be the parting present from SIA , reading the article is say SIA are looking for a partner/busines that will open up the Trans atlantic routes to them

As my Grandad used to say: “If you can’t fight, wear a big hat.”

SRBs hat must have a red anti-collision light at the top of it then :D:D

Funny article.

A friend of mine familiar with some folks at Airbus is convinced that VS are not going to pay for even half of those A330s. Seems his bosses were frantically searching for a new owner for some cancelled air frames.
Of course, that is just juice from the grapevine and I submit it as such.

Agreed.
I’d bet that even now, if WW wanted blood, he could shut down VS in months with new services from BA.

WW might just be tightening the screws on VS
The Start of the all Business class from LCY in September and going Head to head on the las Vegas route

It just gose to show how much a threat BA is to Virgin and How little a threat Virgin is to BA

I think you meant ‘nemesis’ rather than ‘hubris’, mate.

This was hubris.

You’re quite right, though. 🙂

You may be onto something here – take a look at this commentary:

http://www.glgroup.com/News/Virgin-Atlantic-Flirts-With-Jobs-Cull-41037.html

No wonder VS is performing a “u-turn” so quickly after boasting about profits 😉

Its telling it like it is Virgin are up S**** Creek and have been for some time , I think SRB is going to come down to earth with a major bang and Unfortunetly its VS staff thats going to feel the brunt of it

I can afford to Fly but chose to fly with a company who’s Boss dose not make outrageouse claims slating other companies while his own gose down the pan

Best not fly with Ryanair either then!!! :diablo:

And before anyone says it, whilst Ryanair’s financials are not yet down the pan, its service standards are! 😀

As far as Virgin is concerned, I am surprised at the seemingly rapid reversal in fortunes, but all airlines are suffering right now. Whilst it is very sad that staff may end up losing jobs, whilst the collective we are not travelling so much some retrenchment is almost inevitable.

Moderator Message

You could, of course, suggest the the fantastic Mr Brown of Westminster that he and his gang of 400 do a bit of travelling in the winter. I am sure that the taxpayer would be happy to pick up the tab. I, for one, would but only for single outbound tickets.

We don’t do party politics in here, Fieldhawk.

Take it to the General Discussion forum in future.

Thanks
