Hi everyone I just wanted to let you know about an upcoming airshow for this summer. It is the Muskoka 2010 Air Show “Thunder in Little Norway” July 17-18th in Muskoka, ON, Canada. The show is celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Norway & Battle of Britain at the site of the original Little Norway training base now the current Muskoka airport.
The website has some information but more will follow including the aircraft lineup which will feature a roundup of Cornelles as used by the RNAF and a round up of Spitfires and Hurricanes.

No that isn’t one of them, had not much luck with the Norwegian Consulate in communicating to the Norwegian veterans. The ones we have are all local to the Muskoka and Collingwood areas who moved back to the area after the war. We had really hoped for more involvement from the Consulate to get Veterans from Norway over for the Anniversary but it has been very disappointing as the governments don’t really feel that 70 is an important milestone. To make sure that no one would forget these two battles, this 70th Anniversary Air Show is an entirely private venture as no government felt it as an important enough milestone. To quote one branch “Come back and talk to us for the 75th”. That’s ok though because it really isn’t about them it is about honouring our veterans and the ones who never came back.
Hope to see everyone out at the show July 17 & 18.
Sorry to hear, but still very pleased you managed to get some of the local veterans involved.

We have been slowly compiling a list of veterans also and we now have a few Norwegian vets,
Let me guess, Ltn. General Wilhelm Mohr being one of them?

Hi just a quick update and to answer your questions. Yes it will be a real 109e flying at the show from the Russell Group in Niagara Falls and we tentatively have a nice surprise coming all the way from Texas for the Anniversary, a Messerschmitt 108 which will also be flying. Will be great to have two Messerschmitt’s in the air over the weekend! We also now have the CWH Lysander coming which is a great addition to the flying display.
For the Battle of Norway we have a special Norwegian flight of Cornell Trainers as well as the CWH PBY Canso which will be flying. For all those interested it is our goal for this 70th Anniversary show that pretty much all the aircraft we have coming FLY daily so you can catch them in the air.
We have been slowly compiling a list of veterans also and we now have a few Norwegian vets, amazingly 3 German veterans in the area and a few Spitfire pilots. Provided their health prevails we will be having them out to the show as our honoured guests. For WWII vets who wear their service medals their is no charge and we have a special day for them also on the Friday which is not open to the general public if they contact us. Contact info is on the website at www.battleofbritain2010.com
Cheers

Fantastic event with a superb name.
Any Norwegian veterans coming over?

Thunder in Little Norway MOVED to Huronia Airport, Midland, ON
*******************UPDATE*****************
Due to the inability of the Muskoka airport to accomodate the Air Show “Thunder in Little Norway” has been MOVED to the Huronia Airport, Midland, Ontario just a few miles to the west. To assist in making sure everyone is aware of the change please tell your friends to make sure they are headed to Midland July 17th & 18th for the Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary Air Show.
We have added additional aircraft to the exciting line up of flying displays and look forward to seeing everyone at the show.
The new web link is www.battleofbritain2010.com
We would also like to thank the Huronia Airport Commission for providing their airport for the air show, a friendlier facility to General Aviation we believe would be hard to find. Without their support this opportunity to honour the veterans for the 70th would not be possible.
The count down now to July has begun – Hope to see you there!!!
