I wanted to give a heads up to some that might want to attend our air show next year, on August 5th and 6th 2006. This year our show had 8 B-17s in attendance and we are continuing with our themes, the 2006 show will be British aircraft, with the theme Spitfires.
As of now the line up is as followes,
8 Spitfires
3 Hurricanes
Lancaster
Me-109
I know that our British theme does not compare to the shows in England, but will be the largest in North America.
So the ones that might be interested, or attended this year, we wanted to pass this information on. Our web site should be up at the end of January, with a full aircraft list. yankeeairmuseum.org
Thank you,
Michael Luther

Wow- I did not know that 3-4 Hurricanes was alot for a show. The three we will have are-
Jerry Yagens
Ed Russell (along with his Spit and 109)
Lone star flight Museum (this one is just getting done)
There are now 7 airworthy Hurricanes in the UK, but we have never had more than 4 (or maybe 5?) in the same place at the same time.

Which 3 Hurricanes would these be?

3 hurricanes,blimey thats good,even in the UK we don’t very often get more than 3 to 4 together.I know we could but it is still rare.In a way i now prefer to see Hurricanes in formation than Spitfires as it’s rarer.

Will any American Types operated by the RN/RAF attend? (i.e. Corsair, Hellcat, Mustang, etc.) :rolleyes:

Michael–
Doubt you’ll have much luck sourcing a Stirling (alas)…but here are a few suggestions…
* Swordfish from Muirkirk ON (may be intended already?)
* Seafires: PR503 (would have to be trucked in); VP441 from Montana…
* Fireflies: WH632 (CWH); Captain Eddie’s from Colorado…
* Lysander (CWH), if it’s flying by then
* Shackleton (CAF)
* Mosquito (somehow or other…)
Less pie-in-the-sky than some of the above:
* Sea Furies/Furies–as many as possible–would love to see the Peeler one, and of course the Greenhill T20 rebuilt from WG655 (hm, Furies could be a theme type some year, could they not…?? :rolleyes: )
* Early Brit jets: Vamp (new Rubin one??), Venom, Hunter, etc.
* On the lighter side: light deHavillands–Moth series/Rapide/Chipmunks etc
Whatever you guys do I don’t doubt it’ll be stellar. After several years of being told I should go to Yankee, I finally did, in 2002, and have not missed it since. Wonderful Mt.Hope timewarp for someone who laments the passing of the old CWH shows. Thunder, along with Geneseo the previous month, is now central to my summer vacation planning…
Cheers

You could try getting an airworthy Short Stirling to attend…..

I grew up in Michigan and planned on visiting sometime in July of 06. Yet, I may wait a couple of weeks to attend your Air Show? That said, many years ago I drove 150 miles to see a Air Show put on by the Yankee Air Force. Only find out that it had been canceled…………..not happy! 😮 😮 😮

If you plan to attend, What other stuff do you think would be good?
