Thursday evening at BSL

I was heading home about 6pm tonight, and after an Air France 321 passed over head, I made a spur of the moment descision to go out to teh Airport and take some photos. As it turned out, it was well worth doing so, as Strasbourg (100km up the road) was closed due to a Fire Service strike (gotta live the french for doing that ;)), and lots of flights were diverted down to Basel.

1. SNBA don’t normally operate to Basel, but their Brussels-Strasbourg European Parliament shuttle service saw three aircraft on the ground while I was there, and apparantly there’d been a fourth earlier, too. Here’s Avro OO-DWJ taxi-ing out.
2. Air France A321 F-GMZB lands on what is normally the Paris-Strasbourg run.
3. By popular demand…
4. Lufthansa now uses 737-500’s on the Basel-Frankfurt route, which untill March had been operated by CRJ’s. D-ABIE is the aircraft here, although as you can see, the sun wasn’t best placed at this stage of the evening.
5/6 OO-DWJ on it’s take off run from 16.
7/8 Tunis Air 737-500 TS-IOJ lands.
9. HB-IZZ ’25th Saab2000 Concordino for Crossair’ taxis out on a Swiss flight.
10. HB-IZO also taxis out, but wearing the up-to-date colourscheme.

And the last couple… I apologise in advance, the light is poor, but there was one particular visitor from Strasbourg I was still waiting for (and it came in at twenty to nine… :()

1. 320 F-GHQO touches down.
2. F-GRJP. On reflection, I think, definately a CRJ day.
3. HB-IYB Saab 2000 touches down, while JP hold short.
4. I-ADJA taxis back out for it’s return to Munich.
5/6 What I was waiting for, Olympic 737-400 SX-BKA. damn the light!

At this point, I left, it’d been a longish day.

And more!

1. Aigle Azur decelerates after it’s touch down.
2/3 A319 F-GRHO taxis out and takes off.
4. F-GRZB. Have I mentioned I like these CRJ’s?
5/6/7 319 G-EZAM arrives from Berlin. Last Time I saw this particular aircraft, it was the day before easyJet started operating the Airbus, and it was doing crew Training as HB-JZA.
8. F-GLIT lands, it’s the first time I’ve logged an F70.
9/10 The third of those SNBA’s heads out, this time it’s OO-DWG.

1. The little Banderiante heads off.
2. And it’s another Prop, this time Beech 1900 F-GTKJ operating a Twinjet flight to Marseille.
3/4 I could get used to these Brit’Air CRJ’s. F-GRJA comes in.
5. Corsair heads back out.
6. CRJ’s are today’s big thing, as I-ADJA arrives with the evening LH flight from Munich.
7. The Air France 321 heads back out, bathed in a glorious sunset.
8. Another Brit’Air CRJ comes in, this time it’s F-GRJF getting the sunset treatment.
9. AF 321 on 16.
10. Or is it a 321 day rather than a CRJ day? difficult to know, as Aigle Azur 321 F-OIVU lands.

Its always great to fall lucky, i’ve had it once or twice, the best was a couple of years back when i turned upto Man when BHX and EMA were having probs, and Brize had been shut the night before – it was heaving!

Great piccys – nice to see sumwhere differant to the usual suspects again!

1. F-GRGF, a based Regional AF 145.
2/3 320 F-GHQQ, operating the MLH-ORY shuttle.
4. A320-100 F-GGEF arrives from ORY with a puff of smoke.
5. Farnair ATR HB-AFF returns home from another flight servicing UN personnel in Dakovica.
6. Pegasus TC-AAP positions in on a ferry flight from Oslo. No, don’t look to me for an explanation…
7/8 Like I said, there were 3 SNBA aircraft in when I first arrived. 319 OO-SSM was the next to head to 16.
9. Air France Regional Embraer 120 F-GTSI operates the MLH-Clermont Ferrand route.
10. and here is OO-SSM on 16.

There’s lots more to come, as the light faded, but it’ll take a while to upload/crop them all.

1. It really wouldn’t be a photo thread without this. 😉 HB-JAX accelerates along 16.
2. HB-IZZ accelerates out, too.
3/4 Corsair brought in 737-400 F-GFUG on a charter from Seville supposedly to Strasbourg.
5. F-GNLI prepares for another MLH-CDG shuttle run.
6. TS-INF Nouvelair A320 taxis out.
7/8 F-GRZB. Brit’Air dosen’t operate any routes for AF from Basel/Mulhouse, although they do plenty from SXB. First time I’ve seen an AF liveried CRJ, too.
9. And Normality, with a Regional ERJ135, F-GOHC, on the MLH-Lyon run.
10. Falcon HB-ICI. don’t ask me, I know nothing about it, either.
