As long as the weather forecast is favourable, I may go myself.
Looks like being a nice day out.

Damn, damn, damn.

My aircraft is based there and I can’t go. Have to be in Yorkshire for work.

Grrrrr!

On the basis that this could be a ‘one off’, could you not swing it or get it changed so that you can go. Even better still throw a ‘sicky’.

Oh by the way I just noticed that you have 445rd BG in your location detail.
Now knowing how particular a man you are with regards these little details, should it not read 445th BG? 😉

According to Google Earth, the main runway is still over 5000 feet, which is still longer than a Class ‘A’ airfield secondary runway.

Sounds like quite an interesting event?
Is there really enough runway left to be able to land Sally B on?
I might just have to get myself up there and go see this event.

I should be there with my ‘Follow Me’ Jeep, and at Hardwick the following weekend.

Not too long to go now, will be good to see Sally B land there. Looks like it’s going to be a good day out.

I guess it’s simply that nobody in Private flying / gliding really needs more than the current 1500 metres, which I think was the WW2 length.

Looking at Tibenham on Google Earth did the main runway used to be 650m longer and if so why was it shortened so much?

Lovely little airfield from what i can remember (about 17 years ago anyway). Most of the taxiways / runways still remained in very good condition, and the resident gliding club were very friendly. If i recall correctly they paid around £100k for the airfield many years ago, to stop the farmer selling its concrete off for hardcore.
Shame the farmer knocked the control tower down though. 😡

Well I guess I can attend since all that is required is to drag my aircraft out of the hangar 😉

Moggy

Doesn’t it roll?
