Did anyone secure any of the 400 tickets for this Friday?
I sent in an application via my hotmail account, and I now cannot access it for all sorts of reasons,so don’t know if I’ve been successful.
I’ll probably go to Spicer Hill, near Langsett reservoir to see them come over.

All sorted.:D
Now got one,but don’t ask how.
I’ll be there with a fellow radio ham,and between us,we’ll have a scanner and a Yaesu handheld portable ham radio listening in.

What interest me though,is if people were getting their passes by post on Saturday morning, and the closing date for applications was Friday,when/how did they manage to get names and addresses from people who were successful,AND get them in the post that day?
I can’t believe that 400 people were sat at their pc’s waiting for the call,as there was no closing time for applications, just a day.
I smell a rat.
Ken.
You are not as surprised as us at actually getting a pass quinny..I can assure you of that!
I will check with my mate as to when and how he applied, meanwhile I must get on me way to sheffield, its 18:15 already. Hopefully pics will follow, no1 son wont lend his dear old dad his camera:mad:, so I shall provide the best I can over the weekend.

I’m looking forward to the pics and reports already!

Yes but at no point in the original information does it ask for an address,it just says you will be contacted again if you are successful, which would then leave me to think you could then provide your details.
Bit misleading really.

Put our address in the e-mail and got one, maybe they sent them to people who provided addresses on first contact?

As it looks like I’m not one of the successful applicants, along with others, the trip to Spicer Hill looks like a reality.
Does anyone know what frequencies they will operate on,as along with a fellow radio ham,we’ll take some gear with us for a listen.

Derwent Valley
I went there in 1993 at the 50th anniversary of the Dams Raid, stayed in Chesterfield overnight and made my way to Derwent early on the day of the event, got into a taffic jam miles long. There was no access for cars so cars had to be parked in a field and then travel up to the reservoir by buses that were provided. It took me nearly 6 hours to get there, The organizers Seven Trent Water were overwhelmed with the amount of people that turned up for the event, they could not cope it became a shambles. Perhaps this is why only 400 tickets were available?.

A mate of mine received his Car park pass in the post last Saturday. We are off up to Sheffield after work Thursday to stay with friends of his. Trying to borrow my sons digital SLR with telephoto lens, the tyke is reluctant to let his old Dad borrow it!

🙂 If there are a few of you why don’t you get a taxi and split the costs. He won’t have to wait around and park unless you need him to then ring him up when you’re ready.:)
For the more adventurous of you put a bike on the car and park a few miles away and cycle.:)
I am envious of you all, take and post some nice photos and video:)

Found the exact location on an OS map 110,from a road rally I did there years ago…

From what I can make out the Lancaster is going to be heading on towards Chatsworth before turning for home. Even with the Derwent car park road closed off if you don’t have a ticket, there’s thousands of places you can park between Derwent and Chatsworth.
If I can skive off work I’m going up, failing that I’ll be hanging out the window at work and hoping she comes over Chesterfield on her way back, as she sometimes does.

Absolutely Eddie, but if you look on an OS map for the area,it’s quite a hike from the Ladybower end,and if like me you have some friends who have walking difficulties,it can be very hard on them.

If you actually read the item, the only restriction is on car parking. If you take public transport and walk, you’re welcome to go. The restriction is to ensure there is emergency vehicle access.

I put my e mail in when the BBMF’s web site posted the news item, i got a confirmation but have heard nothing since. Only 400 measly tickets! If like me you attended the 50th in 1993 the valley was full of people so why only 400 bl**dy tickets, sounds like another local authority ba##s up to me. Oh and I’ve lost a days holiday because of it.
A very pi**ed off Spade Grip.

According to the bumpf, they are passing over the wind farm at Spicer Hill, hence the reason I was going to go there.
Found the exact location on an OS map 110,from a road rally I did there years ago, which still had the route on it!!!!!
