JDK – The connection is that she first flew with 206 Squadron at Bircham Newton in 1939 before moving to 4CPF at Hooton Park. The arrangement of the codes was from a period picture of a similar machine.

Ah, THIS post, which isn’t on page two when presented in reverse order. Never hit that problem before! 😀

As to helmets, my view is it’s your head, you wear what makes sense to you, or is required by the operator. It’s notable how many vintage pilots find the Campbell’s Aero Classic helmet a good hard-shell vintage-look reasonable compromise.

What’s the 206 Sqn (Coastal) connection? (VX codes).

And, Phixer, I can’t see any reference to the need for helmets in the thread you’ve indicated, unless I’m being think… (Perfectly possible, of course.)

There are two pic’s of Tiger Moth K-4259 with myself in the front and both occupants wearing bone domes indicating that it could be common, and sensible, practice these days.

Are those ‘bone domes’ looking slightly out of place on a 1930’s classic?:D

Maybe they do but they are a sensible precaution, I had to wear one see:

I am in the front.

Have you ever sat there watching them? The landings always look effortless, just the slightest tickling of the tailskid and gently coming to a rest. It’s enough to make your piloting blood steam but go “oooooh nice” at the same time.
