As I was driving south down the A1, near this airfield yesterday afternoon, a bright yellow Tiger M Moth crossed at very low level in front of me. It was clearly in trouble, the pilot managed to avoid some trees before landing heavily, bouncing and tipping over with some force. I called the emergency services but didn’t see anything more as I had to continue my journey. I haven’t seen anything reported, so I hope no-one was hurt, although the aircraft must have been damaged. I just wondered if anyone on here had heard anything?

Thanks. So glad no-one was hurt and amazed that the aircraft suffered so little damage. A skilled bit of piloting, I think! My main concern, as I didn’t see what happened after it tipped forward, was that it could catch fire. Thank the good Lord that this wasn’t the case.

Well done Andrew. Though in this case it probably wasn’t crucial, getting assistance to the scene of a precautionary / forced landing as soon as possible is never a bad thing.
