I was just watching Operation Crossbow on DVD, and there’s a brief sequence showing Spitfire IX MH434 (painted as a PRU aircraft) landing and taxiing up to the camera, to have its PRU camera films removed to be processed. I believe she was flown in that sequence by her then-owner, Tim Davies.
Is Tim still with us at all?

I was very young when I saw the film in the a theater…the Spitfire made a big impression on me. Likely the first time I’d seen a civil “warbird” in a film.

He certainly was about two years ago when I showed him around ARC and HFL. Very pleasant and interesting guy and very tall! He has some great recollections of Spitfire ownership in the 1960’s and his first solo in MH434 from Stansted of all places.

”Back in the UK: 1963 to 1983
The new owner was Tim Davies, then 24 and an Airline pilot. The aircraft was flown to Stansted on the 29th June 1963, it was subsequently flown to Elstree, where it was overhauled to emerge as G-ASJV. ”

If he is around he will be a senior citizen of about 75.
