Time For A Forum Disposal / Wants Section?

As the title asks.
It has been discussed before, but the recent flurry of posts seems to reveal a need. At least one of the Mods said they would look into the possibility. such a section would prevent individual threads being lost in combined threads, as happened recently.
Posts need’nt have the vulgarity of listing prices etc, but just notices of parts for disposal and wanted with contact details.
It would have to be operated in good faith – a bit like local yellow freeads papers.

It is under discussion once again. I am sure either myself or other Mods will be able to update all of you soon.

Surely the disposals aspect is an easy one, EBAY!, as for “wants”, I can’t see that, conflicting with key publishing’s “rules and regulations”, and would welcome a dedicated section.

A great idea IMHO – have been able to source a number of items through the forum over the years and provided some bits for others.

Having a centralised place to look is an excellent move chaps

I agree, recently I have been thinking of ‘disposing’ of things I have collected but are not really relevant to my main interest – I would much rather offer them to forum members first before listing on any other sale site.

Don’t hold this as gospel as I am going back in memory but I think the result of the investigation into the possibility of a classifieds section was that it was a no go on the forum as they have an Sales/wants section in the magazine or something to that effect. Maybe Bruce or one of the other Mods can add to this or correct me?
Peter

I can understand that, but want to make it clear that I mean disposals/wants and not sale/wants. It is more a way of letting other members know that you have something to get rid of, or want, as preliminary contact only – all the business can be conducted via PMs Emails etc. For instance if I had a Lancaster spare going, letting it be known on here might make it available to the right person.
If people want to sell for financial reasons only, I’m sure they would advertise elsewhere (Ebay, mags, aerojumbles) anyway.

It’s been discussed several times and alas there is nothing to show for it. I think it’s a great idea.

seconded, you never know what people have lying around that you might need 😀

wants disposals section

personally i would really welcome such a section,
like you said no prices,
just individual projects and there needs and disposals, howevor big and small
for use by everybody ,
there are many individuals out there who dont knowwhere to start looking for that elusive part,
and i am sure parts etc, that end up in the bin because no one knows they are for disposal,
i think its a great idea

We’ve (the mods) discussed it in the past. I’ll open another discussion, and let you know.
