Time For An Auster Thread?

Just maybe of interest, they are having a International Auster Club fly in at Shobdon tomorrow. I hope the weather improves.

Old thread this one, but worthy of resurrection considering all the great pics still on here!

Whatever happened to that Auster pictured above, I love that scheme and couldnt find anything on the ‘net’.

I better contribute if I am too drag this one up.

There weren’t that many wars in which to be a UK bird which were ongoing in 1956/57!

Not exactly a warbird. The Auster J5Q Alpine was supposed to be a de luxe civilian version, but could not beat back the onslaught of the Pipers and Cessnas.

286 is safe and well (went and had a look at it on Saturday), but she’s staying where she is at the moment as besides the new resident 9, we still have the four flying examples and XP241 which is currently on rebuild too. Please find attached two photos of the latter.

Fournier Boy – Help everyone with a more detailed description i.e are you talking Cirrus Minor or Major?

Important question here, I know everyone tries to help, but I need a bit more solid background than partially educated guesses. Has anybody on here recently had a Blackburn Cirrus engine overhauled recently and if so, may I ask what the bill was. Please only answers from those that have actually paid for an overhaul on one in the last 3 years please.

Nice to see he’s still about! I’ve got some pics somewhere of ‘HH prior to its conversion, taken at Swanton Morley in about 1988 at an Auster Club Fly In. If I can find a way to scan them, I’ll post them……..

I’am sure that will cheer up the currently u/s ‘mudmover’ no end if you could!

WZ 706. Hitching a lift on a low loader from Middle Wallop to Devon to be put back in flying condition, hopefully for late spring 2009.

Is this the AOP9 that was in store in the Historic Flights hangar? Has she been sold, or is just going to Devon for restoration,. and then returning back to Wallop
