Timing Rolls Royce Griffon Engine

I was wondering if anyone out there has personal experience when it comes to timing a Rolls Royce Griffon Engine 74 Block modified to have 58 banks fitted? As the Mod incorporates new timing marks on the 74 crank am I correct in assuming that I should follow the 58 procedure but using the new markings on the crank? If anyone could let me know I would appreciate it.

Serial Numbers

Lee, the A619622 is the serial number of our engine and is now fitted into WD826 but originally came from WJ109.

We also have another 74 block with the serial numbers AN639051 and NO46428. We were wondering if you knew the origin of this engine also as one day we are anticipating it will be our spare!

Regards,

Stewart.

Thanks for that bent wing bomber i’ll let you now how it goes. Might be a while until we fire it up as the engine is inhibited and we have a few other tasks to be getting on with in the meantime!

Lee I will get back to you on wednesday with a serial number!!!

Thans again,

Stewart.

I’m intrigued. Does your engine have a serial number plate on it, and if so can you tell me which one it is? There should, in theory, be two – one purely numerical and a second prefixed “A”.

I have done a 65 crankcase with 58 banks, you are correct, follow the 58 book, using the new scribe marks.
