Yes I’m still searching to find their civil registrations.
The German pilots flew them in their free time

That’d be why I’ve not seen it at our last couple of dos.

That’s the one… I wasn’t aware only the tail was Nipper. I was led to believe form other sources the fuselage was. Nice man Mr. Piper he’s flown in to a couple of VAC events. Perhaps I should have asked him on the day 🙂

yes Arm Waver, I know the Metisse.

Actually its not a Nipper fuselage, only the tailplane comes from a Nipper (c/n 11 now G-BWCT) the rest was build by the designer Cliff Piper.

I have a soft spot for the Tipsy Trainer because when I was a kid my father used to regularly inspect the one owned by the Cardiff Ultra Light Flying Club (G-AFJS). We lived at Rhoose and every Friday he would travel to Cardiff Pengam Moors on the train with myself and my mother in order to inspect the Tipsy and also a Hornet Moth (G-ADMT). He got paid 10 shillings which just covered the cost of the train fare for the three of us and a bar of chocolate on the way home! He didn’t want to charge any more because they ere all so friendly and obviously couldn’t afford the going rate at that time!

I remember being offered a flight in the Tipsy but for some reason I turned it down (I was only 8 at the time!). I have always regretted not taking that flight!

Mr. Tipsy – are you aware of the design with a Niper fuselage and a low wing. IIRC it is the Metisses CP.1 The UK one is G-BVCP.

BM I guessed the man in the jumper was your father. 🙂

Theone in front of the Trident with the young lady is my father (Typical!) Barry is in the Running A/C. Got more from that SBAC Show somewhere, it was the year the German Airforce Atlantic crashed!

Really nice site that.

Blue Max – Barry appears to have been a master of disguise. – No sign of the beard which would’ve clashed with that uniform anyway… 😀
Love the pictures.
